Role Summary
Head of Brokerage NA (The President & CEO of NTSI Brokerage) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, financial performance and regulatory standing of Northern Trust Securities Inc.’s U.S. brokerage business. This is a senior executive role with full accountability for driving sustainable growth, leading complex change, strengthening client and institutional relationships, and building a high performing brokerage franchise aligned to Northern Trust’s global strategy and values.
The role requires a seasoned financial services leader with deep experience across investment banking, global brokerage or equivalent institutional markets businesses, and a proven track record of operating in complex, regulated, multi‑jurisdictional environments.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Growth and Transformation
• Define and execute a clear multi‑year strategy for the NTSI brokerage business, aligned with Northern Trust’s global brokerage and markets strategy.
• Lead the business through significant change initiatives, including operating model evolution, governance enhancement, control environment strengthening, and growth‑led transformation.
• Identify and deliver sustainable revenue growth opportunities across client segments, products and services, while maintaining disciplined risk and cost management.
• Act as a catalyst for innovation, modernization and continuous improvement across technology, processes and client delivery.
Leadership and Talent
• Build, lead and retain a high caliber leadership team and broader brokerage organization, with a strong focus on succession planning and bench strength.
• Demonstrate the ability to attract top tier talent from the market and develop internal leaders within Northern Trust.
• Set a strong cultural tone, promoting accountability, collaboration, diversity of thought, and alignment with Northern Trust’s values and conduct framework.
• Provide clear leadership during periods of change, ensuring teams remain engaged, focused and client centric.
Clients and Institutional Relationships
• Maintain a visible and credible presence with key institutional clients, counterparties, regulators and industry stakeholders.
• Strengthen Northern Trust’s reputation as a trusted, high-quality brokerage partner through consistent client engagement and delivery excellence.
• Work closely with Sales, Trading, ITS and Coverage teams globally to support complex client relationships and cross regional mandates.
• Represent NTSI Brokerage externally, including with regulators, industry bodies and strategic partners.
Governance, Risk and Regulatory Oversight
• Assume full accountability for the regulatory standing of NTSI Brokerage, ensuring strong governance, controls and compliance with U.S. and global regulatory requirements.
• Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Risk and Audit functions to maintain a robust control environment and proactively address regulatory and audit matters.
• Ensure clear, transparent management information, financial reporting and performance oversight.
• Act as a senior escalation point for risk, conduct and control matters.
Global Collaboration
• Operate as a key member of Northern Trust’s global brokerage and markets leadership team, working collegiately with partners across EMEA, APAC and North America.
• Drive alignment between the U.S. brokerage business and global platforms, operating models and client strategies.
• Contribute to broader Northern Trust enterprise initiatives beyond brokerage where appropriate.
Experience and Background
• Extensive senior leadership experience within investment banking, global brokerage, capital markets or equivalent institutional financial services businesses.
• Proven track record of successfully leading largescale change and transformation initiatives in regulated environments.
• Demonstrated growth orientation, including building and scaling businesses, deepening client relationships and expanding product or service capabilities.
• Strong experience hiring, developing and leading senior professionals and front office teams.
• Significant client facing and institutional relationship management experience with asset managers, hedge funds, banks or other institutional clients.
• Experience operating within a global organization, collaborating across regions, cultures and business units.
• Credibility with regulators, auditors and senior internal stakeholders.

Salary Range:
$239,900 - 419,700 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
