Primary RoleThe Head of Biometrics provides executive oversight and leadership for Alto's clinical data strategy across Phase 2 and Phase 3 development programs.
This role bridges the gap between complex data and strategic business decisions, transforming clinical outputs into intuitive visual narratives that drive execution. Serving as a grounded subject matter expert and people leader you will orchestrate a lean, high-performing mix of internal strategy and external /consultants to support Alto's precision psychiatry portfolio.
What you'll do- Strategic Enterprise Leadership: Lead the holistic biometrics strategy, spanning data management, statistical strategy, programming, and data visualization, to support corporate objectives and clinical milestones across Phase 2/3 CNS trials.
- Data Visualization & Storytelling: Design, interpret, and present clear, intuitive data visualizations and dashboards that translate complex quantitative outputs into actionable, decision-ready insights for executive leadership, board members, and cross-functional teams.
- Consultant & Vendor Orchestration: Direct and manage external vendors and specialized statistical consultants; hold partner teams accountable for high-quality, timely deliverables including SAPs, database locks, TLFs, and regulatory submissions.
- Practical Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the internal voice of authority on biometrics strategy, knowing how to evaluate trial design, endpoints, and data integrity without needing to perform hand-rolled statistical derivations.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate seamlessly with Clinical Operations, Medical, Translational Medicine, Regulatory, and Engineering to integrate data workflows, support health authority interactions, and streamline precision medicine/digital endpoint strategies.
- Scalable Operations & Governance: Build scalable data processes, standards (CDISC, SDTM/ADaM), and vendor management frameworks to support Alto's growth from mid-stage clinical trials into commercial readiness.

Salary Range$320,000 to 350,000
*depending on qualifications and experience levelQualificationsRequired Skills:- Education: Master's degree in Biostatistics, Data Science, Statistics, Quantitative Health Sciences, or a related field (Ph.D. not required).
- Enterprise Leadership & Vendor Management: Proven track record of leading biometrics/data functions in biotech or pharma, with heavy experience managing contractors, and specialized statistical consultants.
- Data Visualization & Communication: Demonstrated mastery in creating clear, compelling data visualizations and communicating complex analytical concepts to non-statistical stakeholders and executive management.
- Balanced Technical Judgment: Strong foundational knowledge of Phase 2/3 clinical trial design, regulatory expectations, and CDISC standards, with the discernment to know when standard methods suffice versus when to call in deep technical specialists.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Exceptional collaboration and project management skills with a pragmatic, business-minded approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:- Prior experience building, scaling, or leading a biometrics function in a growing biotech company.
- Prior experience supporting clinical development in CNS, psychiatry, or mood disorders.
- Experience with biomarker-stratified trials, precision medicine, digital endpoints, or data-driven clinical development approaches.
- Experience supporting NDA, BLA, MAA, or other major regulatory submissions.
