Overview

How You'll Contribute

As Brewery General Manager (Head Brewer) of our Temple Brewery, you'll lead every aspect of brewery operations to consistently produce the high-quality, beverages our guests know and love. This role blends hands-on brewing and packaging expertise with leadership of the team, production schedule, inventory, labor, and budget, while building a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • The Craft: Lead and support every stage of production from brewing and yeast management to centrifuging or DE filtration, soda production, and packaging finished beer in kegs, cans, and bottles.


  • The Leadership: Lead, coach, schedule, and develop the Lead Brewer and Assistant Brewers while creating a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.


  • The Quality: Own BJ's high standard across every beverage, piece of equipment, and area of the facility through strong sensory evaluation, quality control, sanitation, and disciplined production practices.


  • The Operations: Deliver the production schedule through accurate forecasting, procurement, inventory management, labor planning, budget oversight, and operational excellence in partnership with the VP of Brewery Operations.


  • The Standards: Maintain complete production and inventory documentation while ensuring the brewery, equipment, and facility remain clean, organized, sanitized, and ready for production.


  • The Safety: Lead strict compliance with safety, food safety, chemical-handling, regulatory, and OSHA requirements while maintaining a drug- and alcohol-free workplace. Authorized quality tastings are conducted only under established company protocols.


Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Provide end-to-end leadership of all brewery operations including brewing all recipes to specification and complete accurate production records.


  • Lead hands-on brewing, centrifuging or DE filtration, yeast management and propagation, soda production, cleaning, sanitation, and packaging into kegs, cans, and bottles.


  • Manage yeast, including proper handling and propagation, and support soda production.


  • Receive deliveries, maintain inventory records, and help manage production in brewery systems.


  • Operate a forklift and brewery equipment safely and responsibly.


  • Clean and sanitize vessels, equipment, and brewery work areas using proper chemical-handling practices.


  • Coach Assistant Brewers and reinforce consistent, efficient brewery practices.


  • Maintain BJ's standard for quality, safety, cleanliness, and OSHA compliance.


  • Share your beer and brewing knowledge with restaurant guests and represent BJ's at beer events.


What You'll Bring

  • One year of comparable production brewing experience.


  • Hands-on capability across brewing, filtration or centrifuge operation, packaging, yeast management, cleaning, and sanitation.


  • Experience leading, coaching, or guiding others in a team environment.


  • Ability to manage production priorities, inventory, labor, budgets, and documentation with strong attention to detail.


  • Comfort working in confined spaces and on elevated platforms or ladders while using required fall-protection equipment with ability to safely meet the role's physical requirements.

This pay range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Final pay within the range will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, relevant experience, and other job-related qualifications.
