Full Job Description
Piper Companies is seeking a Hardware Engineering Program Manager located near San Jose, CA to lead large-scale, complex hardware development initiatives within the high-tech infrastructure industry. The Hardware Engineering Program Manager will play a critical role in managing engineering execution while also remaining hands-on and technically engaged across multiple disciplines. The Hardware Engineering Program Manager is a full-time onsite position near San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities of the Hardware Engineering Program Manager:
  • Drive full lifecycle hardware development programs from concept through production, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across mechanical, electrical, thermal, optical, and systems engineering teams, ensuring alignment and execution.
  • Own program schedules, dependencies, and risk mitigation while actively stepping in to support technical problem-solving when needed.
  • Manage relationships with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and external partners to ensure seamless production and delivery.
  • Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making across infrastructure domains including data centers, wiring, fiber, power, and server systems.

Qualifications of the Hardware Engineering Program Manager:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience within high-tech hardware environments (networking, data center infrastructure, servers, or electronics).
  • 5+ years of program management experience leading complex hardware or embedded systems initiatives.
  • Strong technical breadth across hardware domains (mechanical, electrical, thermal, signal, and infrastructure systems) with the ability to dive into details.
  • Proficiency in program management platforms such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, or Confluence.

Compensation for the Hardware Engineering Program Manager includes:
  • Salary range: $200,000-$250,000 annually
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
