Full Job Description

ROCKWOOL is seeking an HR Manager for our new Wallula, WA manufacturing facilityThe ideal candidate will bebased in the Tri-Cities Area and will join the North American Human Resources Team.  This position is onsite, full time and provides Human Resources Management services to all salaried and hourly employees at our facility.

Your Future Team

Reporting to the Director of HR, North America, you'll join a dynamic team where you can utilize your strong customer service and employee relations skills combined with your technical HR background to impact a highly engaged workforce.

What You Will Be Doing

Labor Relations

  • Ensure compliance with employment standards
  • Accountable for completion of all investigations and maintenance of proper documentation

Policies & Procedures

  • Collaborate with the HR team to prepare, update, and monitor compliance with company policies and procedures for both salaried (indirect) and hourly (direct) employees
  • Coach and train the factory management team and supervisors on the implementation of new or revised policies and procedures

Wage & Salary Administration

  • Source and provide salary data to attract and retain qualified direct and indirect staff
  • Monitor and report on local hourly wage trends
  • Support the Operations Director with job descriptions, annual performance evaluations, and salary review process

Benefits Administration & Claims Management

  • Partner with the centralized Total Rewards Team to communicate benefits information to all factory employees
  • Collaborate with the Total Rewards Team on managing short- and long-term disability claims to minimize duration and cost
  • Coordinate employee reimbursements for programs such as tuition, hybrid car incentives, fitness, etc.
  • Work with the Health & Safety Manager to implement Return to Work programs for those with a workplace injury or on long or short term disability

Recruitment

  • Develop and maintain a site manning plan
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to source and identify candidates for factory roles
  • Participate in candidate interviews alongside hiring managers
  • Coach hiring managers to ensure compliance with relevant legislation throughout the interview process
  • Develop, update, and facilitate orientation programs for new employees
  • Monitor hiring progress and needs for direct factory roles

Employee Development & Retention

  • Support identification of internal candidates for promotion and advancement
  • Determine training and development needs, including courses and materials
  • Assist in the delivery of internal training sessions
  • Develop and maintain apprenticeship and co-op programs in collaboration with local skilled trades colleges

Legislative Compliance

  • Stay informed on current employment laws and regulations
  • Keep management updated on legislative changes that may impact operations or employee relations

Communication

  • Participate in internal communication meetings as required
  • Ensure factory communication boards are current and informative

General

  • Lead the Performance Management program for indirect employees, including goal-setting, mid-year, and year-end reviews.
  • Support supervisors in executing performance management or evaluations for direct employees
  • Contribute to the coordination and content of bi-annual People Meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Expertise creating and implementing HR policies/procedures at a newly created site, preferred
  • Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in progressive human resources positions
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience within a labor environment
  • Proven track record in managing multiple projects within tight deadlines
  • Strong drive, commitment and self-motivation
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $125,000/annually. Your salary is determined based on location, experience and the pay of employees in similar positions.
