Position Description

The Gun Violence Prevention Program Analyst supports the Crown Family Philanthropies' Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) portfolio through programmatic, team, and grants administration support. This role works closely with the GVP team and trustees through the Gun Violence Prevention Committee structure to advance grantmaking, fundraising, research, and community engagement efforts. The ideal candidate brings a strong commitment to social justice, curiosity, analytical skills, and an interest or background in one or more gun violence prevention strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a liaison between the Gun Violence Prevention program team and the Grants Management team and CFP administration to ensure the grants database is accurately maintained by implementing proper processes for proposals, grant recommendations, grant reports, and grant agreements, thus ensuring seamless communication of data and relevant information
  • Support the Gun Violence Prevention team in planning, development, and production of materials for grantmaking and strategy meetings; this includes managing multiple deadlines in the proposal review and meeting preparation process
  • Communicate grant cycle process requirements to grantees and applicants, responding to inquiries as needed; exercise judgment regarding managing deadlines, expectations and level of information shared with grantee and candidate organizations
  • Review grantee progress reports and work with relevant Program staff to determine if grant requirements have been met, including the development and tracking of the data dashboard
  • Assist in the coordination of meeting planning, site visits, and other learning opportunities to increase family engagement within the Gun Violence Prevention program area
  • Attend and provide administrative support for Gun Violence Prevention grantmaking and strategy meetings
  • Assist with research and/or data analysis for assigned Gun Violence Prevention portfolio areas
  • Support Grants Management team in ensuring high-quality, accurate, and efficient data entry for grantmaking work across the Foundation
  • Coordinate with CFP teams across program areas, operations, strategy, and family engagement to ensure cross-functional communication and consistency
  • Track, report, and coordinate the foundation's, family's, and partners' fundraising efforts for Gun Violence Prevention initiatives


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or commensurate field experience required
  • 2+ years of experience in the philanthropic/non-profit space, preferably surrounding gun violence prevention work
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, including the ability to write clearly/succinctly, ask effective questions, listen, observe, and synthesize multiple inputs with sensitivity, diplomacy, and professionalism
  • Ability to analyze complex and controversial issues with objectivity, to exhibit critical thinking skills, and to discuss and write about such issues in a neutral, balanced, and thorough manner
  • Experience with grant cycle management, grantmaking analysis, research/writing, and administration support is preferred
  • Ability to play a collaborative role within the Program team
  • Superb organizational skills, including ability to manage simultaneous priorities
  • Meticulous attention to detail, particularly when tackling administrative tasks and data entry
  • Ability to solve problems independently and in groups
  • Curiosity and passion for social impact related to gun violence prevention
  • Capacity for peer mentorship and training
  • Willingness to take initiative and bring new concepts to the team
  • Ability to thrive in a family-centered enterprise
  • General knowledge and familiarity with the public safety, gun violence prevention, and corporate sector desirable
