Full Job Description
The Payment Core team within Coinbase's Platform product group owns the heart of how fiat money moves at Coinbase, processing hundreds of billions of dollars annually across 15+ payment methods in 90+ countries. As the Group Product Manager for Payment Core, you'll own the product vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for core payment processing infrastructure, payment method integrations, multi-partner processing systems, and payment lifecycle management. This is a high-impact IC leadership role for a seasoned payments expert who will drive processing success optimization, least-cost routing, multi-partner redundancy, and payment method expansion, directly impacting Coinbase's revenue, customer trust, and global growth.

What you'll do:
  • Own the multi-year product vision and strategy for Payment Core, encompassing core payment processing, payment method integrations (ACH, cards, bank transfers), multi-partner infrastructure, and payment lifecycle management.
  • Drive optimization of core payment funnels to improve success rates, reduce transaction costs, and increase the percentage of transaction-ready payment methods across Coinbase's global footprint.
  • Lead the strategy and execution for multi-partner payments infrastructure, enabling processing partner routing, redundancy, and failover to maximize reliability and cost efficiency.
  • Partner with Engineering to shape system architecture, API design, and technical roadmap for payment processing systems at scale, while collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, Treasury, Compliance, Legal, and adjacent platform teams.
  • Build self-serve capabilities that enable Product Groups to leverage Payment Core without heavy integration overhead, unblocking growth across Coinbase's product surface.
  • Shape Payment Core's response to evolving regulatory requirements and emerging payment rails (real-time payments, open banking, FedNow), ensuring compliant-by-default systems that keep pace with industry dynamics.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 10+ years of product management experience, with deep expertise in payments infrastructure, payment processing, or fintech platforms.
  • Track record of owning and driving product strategy for large-scale payment processing systems, including building or scaling payment rails, bank/network integrations, routing/processing systems, or payment method platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in highly regulated environments, with fluency across the intersection of product, engineering, finance, compliance, and operations.
  • Proven ability to engage deeply with engineering on system architecture, APIs, reliability engineering, and distributed systems for payment processing at scale.
  • Experience leading through influence, driving alignment across engineering, finance, compliance, and business stakeholders, and articulating complex platform strategy and investment tradeoffs to senior and executive leadership.
  • Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
