Full Job Description
Overview

The Publicis Groupe Global Business Development team is charged with bringing together the Groupe's marketing and digital business transformation offerings across creativity, media, data and technology to drive new business growth.

As a Group Director within the Global Business Development team, you will lead mid-sized global and/or multi-market pitches, as well as defined workstreams within more complex, matrixed global opportunities. You will partner with cross-functional agency teams and junior members of the Business Development team to deliver a cohesive, competitive response to any pitch brief.

You can translate sharp strategic thinking into a rigorous process to deliver, using AI and emerging tools to accelerate analysis, sharpen insights and elevate output. You will help shape the pitch strategy and narrative, while also owning the end-to-end management of your assigned pitch or workstream.

To succeed in this role, you should be equally comfortable thinking at 30,000 feet and driving the detail required to bring a pitch over the line. You know how to navigate complexity - aligning multiple stakeholders, synthesizing diverse inputs, and bringing teams together around a clear, consistent story. You take ownership, move with urgency, and maintain high standards under pressure. You are curious and proactive in adopting new ways of working, including the practical use of AI to improve efficiency, quality and effectiveness. Above all, you are collaborative by instinct, able to build credibility quickly and contribute meaningfully to a team focused on winning.

Responsibilities

PRODUCE WINNING WORK
  • Elevate the strategic proposition and commercial offering of our pitch response, highlighting the Groupe capabilities that align with our proposition
  • Deep understanding of the macro forces at play in the marketplace to identify the core challenges in client's worlds and how we add value
  • Know the changing advertising agency landscape, identifying our competitors' points of difference (and their weaknesses)
  • Lead pitch teams in telling a simple yet differentiating story that delivers a consistent message from capabilities to communications plans to commercial offers
  • Partner closely with design and content teams to translate strategic narratives into clear, compelling and visually cohesive pitch materials

DESIGNING, ACTIVATING AND OWNING THE PITCH DELIVERY PLAN
  • Accountable for a first-class pitch management process from kick-off to post-pitch contact strategy within your assigned pitch or workstream
  • Manage flow of communication, including collection and distribution of information from client teams + intermediaries with pitch teams and senior management
  • Lead with a robust understanding of all aspects of the Groupe, from media/creative planning, data, tech, tools, and commercials and understand how these stand up vs our competitors

LEAD TEAMS
  • Lead mid-sized new business pitches, as well as high-priority workstreams in larger pitches: casting and guiding cross-functional teams, building strategies to win and pinpointing any barriers to overcome
  • Effectively consult, manage and challenge all levels of management and personnel to deliver growth results
  • Coach teams to enhance peak performance in rehearsals
  • Motivate winning teams through high-stress, high-speed processes, making new business pitches a destination instead of a drain
  • Actively contributes to the development of junior BD team members by regularly sharing stand out work, useful models and innovative trends and insights
  • Establish collaborative relationships across Publicis Groupe agency brand and practices to ensure a consistent strategy is deployed on pitches

CLOSE COLLABORATION
  • Lead close collaboration across the Publicis Groupe to unlock Power of One opportunities and ensure a consistent, winning strategy is deployed across all pitches
  • Ensure accountability across key pitch stakeholders to meet deadlines and deliverables
  • Accountable for the team's accurate and timely entry of pitch details in Publicis Groupe's Central Repository (via Salesforce)

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of media, creative, PR planning/strategy, integrated marketing, or similar experience
  • Background in business development or in other verticals with cross-over skills (e.g., strategy, account management)
  • Self-starter who is curious and proactively thinks around corners
  • A natural-born planner with excellent attention to detail and a passion for organizing process and people
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced and changing environment, under pressure to deadline
  • Proven ability to guide cross-functional teams to a common vision
  • A relentless competitive nature and hunger to win
  • Fearless and confident leader in group settings and with executive leadership, setting expectations and flagging potential issues before they happen
  • Clear and collaborative communicator who can get the best out of people at the highest pressured times
  • Strategic mindset - seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies
  • Demonstrates curiosity and confidence in adopting AI and emerging tools to improve workflow efficiency and output quality
  • Winning story-telling, strategic writing, editing and communication skills, must be proficient writing in prose, as well as visual story-telling in PowerPoint
  • Flawless project management and organizational skills
  • Meeting set revenue conversion targets and external new business rankings performance
  • Outstanding feedback from key pitch stakeholders
