The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Ground Control Specialist to join our GlencoreSudbury Integrated Nickel Operations in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

The position will be based in Onaping, Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

This is a full-time, permanent staff position.

Range of Pay: $171,183 to $191,322 (includes annual variable compensation bonus)

This position is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.

Work location is not accessible by public transportation.

Duties and Accountabilities

Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, the incumbent is accountable for, designing, implementing, and monitoring ground control systems and programs to ensure ground stability at the mines, new projects, and legacy sites. A strong relationship must be maintained with Mine/Geology Directors, Site Chief Engineers/Geologists, Site Rehabilitation Specialists, Mine Development Project Managers for overall program direction, technical excellence, and Division consistency.

Education and Skills

The incumbent has an undergraduate degree in mining, civil or geotechnical engineering, with a master's degree in rock mechanics, and will have a minimum of 12 years' experience in an industrial, process-based environment, with a minimum of 6 years in a specialized field. Significant practical experience in deep underground mining with rock bursting conditions is essential.

Good communication and mentoring skills with operational credibility to lead site geotechnical teams is essential.

Is expected to be on call on a regular rotation within the Sudbury Ground Control Group.
