Position Description:

We are looking for an Operations Superintendent to join the Water Management Team at our Grants closure site. This role oversees day to day groundwater treatment operations, plans and executes projects to ensure ongoing treatment success, makes strategic operational and closure recommendations, and will collaborate with other site staff to plan and prepare for site reclamation milestone projects. The Operations Superintendent will routinely plan, schedule and perform or oversee engineering and technical tasks relating to the site's groundwater treatment systems and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day groundwater treatment operations, including supervision of RO Operator hourly staff
  • Collaborate with other staff on all projects pertaining to groundwater treatment, site reclamation, engineering, construction, reclamation and decommissioning work including work scope, schedule, and budget
  • Ensure on-going communication and cooperation with other site personnel to optimize the ability for all to obtain the necessary information and/or accomplish a shared objective
  • Manage the preparation and administration of consultant and contractor contracts
  • Participate in preparation of comprehensive technical reports to support groundwater reclamation activities based on collected data, capital and O&M costs, and health & safety
  • Liaise with tailings storage facilities (TSF) Engineer of Record to ensure the stability of the onsite TSFs as to not pose a potential risk to human health and/or the environment
  • Facilitate organizing and scheduling of "water watch" call out activities


Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field is required
  • Greater than 5 years of experience in the mining, construction, or consulting industry is required
  • Possess and apply project management skills to multiple projects pertaining to groundwater operations, reclamation, and decommissioning is required
  • Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles pertaining to tailings storage facilities monitoring and maintenance is a plus
  • Knowledge of process engineering principles pertaining to water treatment plant operations and maintenance is a plus
  • Willingness to work during non-work hours should upset conditions occur at the site is required
  • Have a demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team of peers and junior site personnel, while maintaining effective working relationships with other personnel and/or consultants/contractors is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization required
  • Knowledge of regulatory constraints related to radioactive material and activities is a plus
