Full Job Description
RIHousing - Government Relations and Policy Specialist
Salary - $75,222.00 - $105,310.00

Please note: This pay range represents the base annual full-time salary for all positions within this job grade. The actual salary offered will depend on factors such as experience and other job-related qualifications.

We are seeking a dynamic professional to serve as the Government Relations & Policy Specialist within RIHousing's Government Relations & Policy Department. In this role, you will assist in the development and implementation of RIHousing's legislative agenda, support the department's legislative and policy research efforts, and complete special projects as assigned.

This is a hybrid position based in Providence, Rhode Island, where you will be an integral part of our Executive team. The role is designed for in-person collaboration and active engagement within our office environment.

What you'll do daily:

  • Support the Director in advancing RIHousing's state and federal legislative priorities.
  • Track, monitor, and evaluate federal and state legislation relevant to RIHousing.
  • Research policy issues and develop legislative and policy recommendations that further the Agency's mission.
  • Prepare testimony, briefing materials, and other communications to advance RIHousing's priorities with federal, state, and local policymakers and elected officials.
  • Represent RIHousing in meetings and other engagements with elected officials, policymakers, community partners, and stakeholders
  • Respond to constituent-related inquiries and requests from elected officials and their staff.


How you will make an impact:

  • Provide timely policy analysis and strategic recommendations that support informed decision-making.
  • Communicate RIHousing's legislative and policy priorities through clear, compelling testimony, briefings, and other written materials.
  • Support meaningful engagement with elected officials and their staff to foster collaboration and advance housing initiatives throughout Rhode Island.
  • Serve as a trusted and professional ambassador for the Agency.


What success looks like in this position:
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in the legislative process and public policy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Diplomacy and the ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Familiarity with Rhode Island's legislative process, affordable housing policy, or related issues is preferred.
