Position DescriptionThe Metro Nashville Public Health Department (MPHD) is seeking a Public Health Administrator 2 to serve as a Governmental and Academic Relations and Workforce Planning Associate.
This role is responsible for ensuring MPHD maintains strong relationships with the Metro Council, the Mayor's Office legislative affairs team and other key policy stakeholders. The role will also act as liaison to policymakers, assist in tracking legislative activity as well as completing internal policy and administrative work. The Associate will play a key role in workforce alignment and development including the implementation of the workforce development plan, providing support for Academic Health Department efforts, internship management and building relationships with academic institutions, and participating in public health.

- Prepare timely summaries and alerts on relevant legislative activity.
- Build relationships with Metro Councilmembers and other elected officials, educate legislators on the work of MPHD and keep abreast of public health legislative priorities in the Metro Council and the TN state legislature.
- Attend Metro Council meetings and relevant committee hearings.
- Provide accurate and timely responses to inquiries from elected officials .
- Develop partnerships and maintain relationships with Nashville academic institutions, establish and maintain MOUs and compliance.
- Develop opportunities for training, professional development and capacity building with academic institutions.
- Work with MPHD Bureaus and developing practicum and internship opportunities at MPHD for students of public health and other relevant fields of study.
- Lead implementation of MPHD's workforce development plan, focusing on ensuring staff training and development of public health competencies.
- Work with MPHD bureaus in assessing needs and developing professional development opportunities.
- Ensure tracking of plan progress in meeting the needs of MPHD staff.
Minimum QualificationsGraduation from an accredited (4) four-year college or university and three (3) years of responsibility, full-time employment in public health administration, public health sanitation, public health nursing, public health education, business administration or another appropriate field
ORGraduation from an accredited Master's degree program in the public health or administrative field.Valid class "D" driver's license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Graduate-level degree in public health, administration, or policy.
