Job Description

We're hiring a Google Cloud Platform Engineer to design, deploy, and operate scalable, secure cloud infrastructure and platform services. You'll partner with product and engineering teams to build automated, observable, and cost-efficient solutions on GCP-moving workloads to containers, automating infra with IaC, and hardening the environment for production scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain GCP infrastructure using Terraform (or Deployment Manager) and GitOps-style CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deploy, operate, and optimize containerized applications on GKE; manage autoscaling, networking, and service mesh components as needed.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, Jenkins, or equivalent) and automate release processes to reduce manual intervention.
  • Implement and enforce CI/CD security controls, secrets management, and secure service-to-service authentication.
  • Configure and manage networking (VPCs, Shared VPC, Cloud NAT, VPN/Interconnect) and hybrid connectivity patterns.
  • Implement observability: logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting (Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Manage IAM, service accounts, and least-privilege access patterns; collaborate with Security/Compliance on policy as code.
  • Drive cost visibility and optimization (labels, budgets, committed use discounts, rightsizing).
  • Create runbooks, playbooks, and incident response procedures; participate in on-call rotation and post-incident reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers, review infrastructure code, and contribute to platform standards and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of Strong hands-on experience with GCP core services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub).
  • Proven Terraform (or equivalent IaC) experience and Git-based workflows.
  • Solid Kubernetes knowledge: deployments, operators, networking, storage, and security.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD (Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
  • Proficient scripting skills (Python, Bash, or Go) for automation and tooling.
  • Practical knowledge of networking, DNS, load balancing, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
  • Experience with observability tooling and incident management.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security fundamentals and identity management.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support data-informed task execution.
  • Familiarity with AI-enhanced platforms is a plus.
  • A solid understanding of AI capabilities and limitations including ethical considerations is expected.
  • Solid foundation in Computer Science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design.
  • GCP Professional Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect certification.
  • Prior experience with multi-tenant platforms or large-scale migration projects.
  • Familiarity with service meshes (Istio/Anthos), policy-as-code (OPA/Gatekeeper), and CI/CD security scanning.
  • Experience with data services (BigQuery, Dataflow) or event-driven architectures (Pub/Sub).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and commitment to operational excellence.
