Position OverviewWorking directly alongside the Director of Agronomy, the Golf Course Superintendent will play a pivotal, hands-on role in managing the resort's (the River and Plantation) courses, leading our agronomic team, and executing our long-range property evolution. Key Responsibilities- -Collaborates directly with the Director of Agronomy to execute the annual maintenance budget, monitor last year's spending metrics, and manage capital development plans.
- -Supervises, trains, and mentors the maintenance staff, championing a positive team dynamic and fostering an environment that prioritizes personal staff development.
- -Leads daily data collection efforts (moisture, firmness, clipping yields) to guide irrigation and agronomic programs.
- -Assists in the planning, organization, and direction of cultural practices, including topdressing programs, aeration schedules.
- -Oversees daily irrigation system performance, troubleshooting Rainbird and Toro systems, managing pump station operation, and proactively auditing field components.
- -Keeps meticulous records of annual maintenance activities, chemical/fertilizer applications, and inventory costs.
- -Ensures all property policies, safety protocols, and government regulations regarding chemical applications and watershed protection are strictly followed.
- -Manages and supports diverse department members, including Mechanics, Equipment Operators, Foremen, and Greenskeepers.
Minimum Qualifications- -A 2- or 4-year degree or certificate in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, or a related Plant/Soil Science field.
- -4 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Second Assistant, or highly experienced Assistant in Training at a premium golf facility.
- -Strong competency in modern turf technology and data tracking software.
- -Must possess or be able to obtain a Virginia Pesticide Applicator's License within 90 days of hire.
- -A strong, collaborative leadership style with excellent communication skills to help navigate periods of operational growth and change.

Salary: $75,000 - $95,000 * (Depending on experience)
