Job Description

Directs and oversees the operation and maintenance of the Greater Des Moines Energy Center, combustion turbines, LNG facilities, LP facilities, power modules, Moline hydro and related facilities, consistent with the organization's policies and objectives. The position has responsibility through direct reports for approximately 25 combustion turbines, including two F class heavy duty frame type machines.

Responsibilities

Develop strategic and operational plans for control, management and improvement of the assigned facilities capabilities and for ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. Participate in the development of the corporate and departmental business plans. Manage the operations and maintenance of the combustion turbine fleet of 25 combustion turbines including two F class machines. Coordinate all CT activities through the generation desk to ensure maximum availability through Midwest Independent Systems Operator. (25-30%)

Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives and planning, organizing, integrating, measuring and reporting the work performed within the department. (20-25%)

Responsible for assessment evaluations of regulatory compliance and provides critical review for performance consistency and improvement. (10-15%) Directs programs designed to maintain and improve plant performance, efficiency, reliability and achieve environmental excellence. (5-10%)

Controls financial and budgetary activities and directs the operations within operating budgets. (5-10%) Ensures compliance with environmental policies, procedures and regulations. (5-10%)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or related field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

Advanced degree preferred.

Eight years of related combustion turbine or power plant experience, including three years supervisory/management responsibilities.

Hands on experience with the management of combustion turbine outages, budgets and operations preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple issues and projects concurrently.
