About the Role

Basic Capital is building a new wealth system for everyday Americans - and we're doing it by unlocking access to capital markets in a way the world hasn't seen before.

So far, we've built serious momentum in our B2B Employer business. But something else has been happening in parallel: our consumer product is pulling investors toward us - people who want more participation in financial markets, and who believe the old retirement system is broken.

Now is the time to go on offense.

Truly own the growth of category defining product

Your job is to build the consumer product and business: product strategy, customer experience, growth loops, positioning, and execution.

This is not a role for someone who wants to "manage a roadmap."

This is a role for someone who wants to lead a campaign and take an ambitious financial product from "people are curious" to "this is inevitable."

Be directly responsible for the proliferation of one of the most innovative, unique, consequential, and controversial financial products: The Retirement Mortgage.

What You'll Do

Own the Consumer Business
  • Build and run the end-to-end consumer product strategy
  • Define the consumer operating model: what we build, who we serve, and how we win
  • Be accountable for consumer outcomes (adoption, engagement, retention, unit economics)

Create the Consumer Brand
  • Make Basic Capital the go-to consumer brand for modern retirement investing
  • Translate a complex product into a story people instantly understand and want
  • Set the tone for consumer UX: simple, powerful, trusted, inevitable

Build Growth Loops
  • Develop distribution and growth strategies that fit the product (not gimmicks)
  • Design onboarding, activation, and education that convert intent into action
  • Create systems that scale: lifecycle, engagement, referrals, conversion

What We're Looking For

Requirements
  • Experience owning and shipping consumer products end-to-end
  • Strong product strategy + execution ability (discovery 14 delivery 14 iteration)
  • Excellent cross-functional leadership (design, engineering, operations, marketing)
  • Ability to operate with high agency in a fast-moving environment

Bonus Points
  • Fintech / investing / consumer finance experience
  • Experience building consumer brands or consumer growth loops
  • Familiarity with retirement, brokerage, credit, lending, or structured financial products
  • You've built products people love - especially ones that were initially "hard to explain"
