Full Job Description
We are seeking a Display technology & Optics (D&O) Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead Optics Strategic Partnerships and Sourcing across OMI and enabling technologies (e.g., Film, Lens, and critical supply-chain partnerships). This role owns the end-to-end strategy for supplier engagement and commercial outcomes, translating long-range compute and product needs into sourcing, contracting, and partnership roadmaps that ensure capacity, cost, technology access, resiliency, and speed.

Responsibilities

About the Role
• Meta's Reality Labs is at the forefront of building the next computing platform through augmented and virtual reality. The Optics team plays a critical role in enabling immersive visual experiences by developing and sourcing cutting-edge optical components. We are seeking an experienced Global Supply Manager (GSM) to lead sourcing and supply chain strategy for optical film components - including D-film (Diffuser Film) and L-film (Lens Film) - used in AR/VR display and optics modules
• This role requires a deep technical understanding of optical film technologies, strong commercial acumen in cost and supply negotiation, and the ability to drive alignment across cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class optics at scale
• Responsibilities
• Strategic Sourcing & Supply Management
• Our end-to-end sourcing strategy for optical film components (D-film, L-film, and related optical films) across the AR/VR product portfolio
• Develop and execute multi-year commodity strategies, including supplier selection, qualification, and lifecycle management
• Drive competitive cost structures through strategic negotiations, should-cost modeling, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis
• Establish and manage long-term supply agreements (LTAs) and contracts that balance cost, quality, capacity, and risk
• Build and maintain a resilient supply base with dual/multi-source strategies to mitigate single-point-of-failure risks
• Cost and Supply Negotiation
• Lead commercial negotiations with optical film suppliers to achieve aggressive cost targets aligned with product cost goals
• Develop detailed should-cost models for D-film, L-film, and emerging optical film technologies to support fact-based negotiation
• Drive year-over-year cost reduction programs through design-for-cost collaboration, process optimization, and volume leverage
• Negotiate capacity commitments, lead time improvements, and flexible supply arrangements to support dynamic demand
• Manage NRE (Non-Recurring Engineering) costs and tooling investments for new film development and qualification
• Technical Depth in Optics
• Develop deep domain expertise in optical film technologies, including but not limited to:
• D-film (Diffuser Film): Understanding of diffusion properties, haze control, light uniformity, and interaction with backlight/display modules
• L-film (Lens Film): Knowledge of micro-lens array structures, light collimation/redirection, optical efficiency, and integration with waveguide and pancake lens architectures
• Stay current on optical film industry trends, emerging materials, advanced coating technologies, and next-generation manufacturing processes
• Partner with optics engineering teams to translate technical requirements into supplier specifications and qualification criteria
• Evaluate supplier technical capabilities, including precision coating, film lamination, micro-replication, and roll-to-roll manufacturing
• Support new technology introduction (NTI) by assessing supplier readiness and driving development timelines
• Cross-Functional (XFN) collaboration
• Serve as the primary supply chain interface between optics engineering, product design, quality, operations, and finance teams
• Partner closely with Optics Engineering to align sourcing decisions with optical performance requirements and design roadmaps
• Collaborate with Product Design / Mechanical Engineering on design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-supply-chain (DFSC) initiatives
• Work with Quality Engineering to establish incoming quality standards, SPC (Statistical Process Control) frameworks, and supplier quality improvement programs
• Coordinate with Operations / NPI (New Product Introduction) teams to ensure a seamless ramp readiness and production continuity
• Engage with Finance / FP&A on cost forecasting, budget management, and cost variance analysis
• Align with Program Management on milestone tracking, risk escalation, and executive reporting
• Support Sustainability / Responsible Sourcing initiatives across the optical film supply chain base
• Risk Management & Business Continuity
• Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, capacity, quality, and single-source risks
• Develop and maintain business continuity plans (BCPs) for critical optical film components
• Monitor suppliers' financial health and operational stability through regular business reviews and audits
• Drive supplier diversification and regional strategy to reduce concentration risk

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Optical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or related field), Supply Chain Management, or Business
• 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, or procurement, preferably in consumer electronics, optics, or display technologies
• Demonstrated track record of complex commercial negotiations in delivering significant cost savings
• Experience managing optical or display component suppliers, with understanding of film, coating, or precision optics manufacturing
• Analytical skills with proficiency in should-cost modeling, TCO analysis, and data-driven decision making
• Proven ability to build and manage relationships across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
• Experience with supplier qualification processes, quality systems (ISO, IATF), and production ramp-up management

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy review)
• Experience with one or more: Film (L/D film), LCD/OLED display, yield/capacity ramp planning
• Prior experience operating in a hyperscale or large platform environment with complex stakeholder sets
• Understanding of supply chain risk management in semiconductors (multi-tier, geopolitical, and allocation) environments
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
