Job Description

As the Global Indirect Tax Automation Senior Associate, you'll implement and build third party tax systems with major third-party ERP and billing platforms (SAP, Oracle, Workday, PeopleSoft, Great Plains), as well as custom billing systems for your clients, across a wide variety of industries - all with the resources, environment and support to help you excel. You'll collaborate with team members, practice leadership, and our diverse client base and will play a key role in gathering requirements, design, build, and testing implementation because together is how we succeed. From day one, you'll be empowered by playing a key role in the requirements gathering, design, build, and testing of the implementation of third-party software products as well as our own custom solution to meet client needs and help you achieve more, confidently.

Your day-to-day may include:
  • Working on assigned third-party tax software implementations (Vertex, Avalara, Sovos, Thomson Reuters) and custom software development projects
  • Manage assigned system integration projects that involve major ERP and billing systems, such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, etc
  • Requirements analysis and design for indirect tax software implementations
  • Manage programming for custom system interfaces and modification of preexisting interfaces
  • Manage testing and support of assigned system go-live projects
  • Develop and deliver key project documentation including requirements documents, design documents, and test plans
  • Participating in Sales meetings and Proposal Development meetings
  • Network and develop key relationships both within Grant Thornton and externally
  • Other duties as assigned


You have the following technical skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related technical field
  • Three-Five years of experience with SAP/Oracle functional and/or technical experience
  • Two years of Oracle EBS/ERP Cloud/SAP ABAP Design and Development experience
  • Deep technical understanding of SAP or Oracle. This includes understanding the customization path in the solutions, the table structures, and the core functional Order-to-Cash and Procure-to-Pay streams
  • SAP Namespace development a plus
  • Experience writing documentation for ERP implementations
  • Experience managing and developing team members for these types of implementations
  • Experience in public accounting is a plus
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel as needed


The base salary range for this position is between $111,320 and $ 141,933. Placement within the pay range is at Grant Thornton's discretion, and it is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, progression within the role, geographic location, and internal equity. At Grant Thornton, compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

Grant Thornton employees may be eligible for a discretionary, annual bonus based on individual and firm performance, subject to the terms, conditions and eligibility criteria of the applicable bonus plan or program. Interns and seasonal employees are not eligible for bonus compensation.
