Global Emergency Planning & Response Manager - Decatur, IL

Position Summary:
The Global Emergency Planning & Response Manager serves as the strategic subject matter expert for ADM's emergency planning and response program across global operations. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving enterprise standards, processes, training, and tools that ensure effective and consistent emergency preparedness and response.
The role partners closely with Technology Centers, Business Units, Corporate Security, Business continuity and Crisis Management, EHS, and site leadership to support regulatory compliance, strengthen risk-based programs, and drive capability and consistency across locations.
Reports to: Global EHS Director
Location: Decatur, IL (preferred) or other ADM locations based on business needs

Key Responsibilities:
Global Program Leadership & Governance
  • Serve as the global SME for emergency planning, response, and incident management
  • Develop and maintain global standards, procedures, tools, training, and implementation resources
  • Establish consistent expectations for emergency planning, incident command, and post-incident learning
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deploy programs aligned with regulatory, operational, and risk-based needs
  • Identify and drive opportunities to improve program maturity and consistency across regions and business units
Risk Assessment & Program Implementation
  • Support sites in evaluating scenarios such as fire, chemical release, severe weather, confined space rescue, medical emergencies, and security events
  • Provide guidance on emergency action plans, evacuation procedures, shelter-in-place protocols, and communication processes
  • Support site compliance with regulatory requirements and company expectations
Training & Exercises
  • Partner with Learning & Development to design and deliver emergency response training for site teams, leadership, and response personnel
  • Support planning and execution of drills and exercises (tabletop, functional, and full-scale)
  • Facilitate post-drill and post-incident reviews; ensure lessons learned are captured and corrective actions are tracked to closure
  • Develop tools to strengthen site capabilities in emergency planning, incident command, and response coordination
Incident Management & Response Support
  • Support or lead corporate incident management during significant events
  • Provide strategic guidance on escalation, incident command, communication, and recovery
  • Participate in or lead evaluations of emergency response performance, identifying gaps and corrective actions
  • Serve as a technical resource on emergency preparedness and response matters
Audits, Assessments & Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in or lead program audits and assessments
  • Identify capability gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement in global emergency preparedness and response performance
Qualifications:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Emergency Management, Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in emergency response program management, EHS, industrial safety, or related field, preferably within a global or multi-site organization
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing emergency planning & response programs across multiple sites, regions, or business units.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency response principles, incident command systems (ICS), crisis management, and business continuity integration
Preferred
  • Professional certifications or memberships related to emergency management, safety, fire protection, security, or incident response (e.g., Certified Emergency Manager, Associate Emergency Manager, ICS advanced training or instructor credentials)
  • Experience working with corporate incident management teams or crisis management teams during significant events
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to translate technical concepts into practical guidance
  • Willingness to travel as needed for global support
