About the job

As Global Director, Diagnostics & Scientific Affairs, you will shape the future of precision medicine across our Rare Diseases and Rare Blood Disorders portfolio by transforming how patients are identified, diagnosed, and connected to life-changing therapies.

You will provide strategic leadership to develop and execute diagnostic, biomarker, and patient identification strategies spanning early research through commercialization. Working at the intersection of science, innovation, and patient care, you will accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge diagnostic technologies and enable earlier diagnosis, informed treatment decisions, and improved outcomes for patients with complex and often under-recognized diseases.

You will partner across Medical, Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Regulatory, Market Access, Commercial, and Quality functions to ensure diagnostic strategies are scientifically robust, operationally feasible, and aligned with business priorities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead global diagnostic and precision medicine strategies across the product lifecycle, from early development to launch and lifecycle management.
  • Design patient-centric diagnostic pathways and biomarker strategies to support timely diagnosis, patient stratification, treatment selection, and disease monitoring.
  • Drive initiatives that shorten the diagnostic odyssey and improve recognition of complex diseases, including systemic mastocytosis, by promoting appropriate testing and referral pathways.
  • Evaluate and implement innovative technologies, including NGS, multi-omics, AI-enabled diagnostics, liquid biopsy, and digital health solutions.
  • Ensure global diagnostic readiness and equitable access through cross-functional alignment and strategic planning.

Scientific Affairs & External Engagement
  • Generate and translate clinical and real-world evidence demonstrating the value of diagnostics in patient care and therapeutic decision-making.
  • Advance biomarker discovery and validation in collaboration with translational and research teams.
  • Build and lead strategic partnerships with laboratories, academic institutions, scientific societies, and diagnostic innovators.
  • Serve as a scientific thought leader on emerging diagnostic trends, technologies, and standards of care.

Launch & Ecosystem Enablement
  • Partner with Medical and Commercial teams to integrate diagnostics into launch and lifecycle strategies.
  • Support testing implementation, laboratory partnerships, assay adoption, and diagnostic education initiatives.
  • Align diagnostic solutions with regulatory, reimbursement, and market access requirements to maximize patient access globally.

About You

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, MS, CGC, or equivalent) in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Genomic Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Pathology, Immunology, Hematology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of significant experience in diagnostics, precision medicine, biomarker development, translational medicine, or related pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or diagnostic environments.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing diagnostic strategies across multiple stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Strong expertise in molecular diagnostics, genomics, biomarker strategies, and patient identification approaches.
  • Demonstrated success leading global cross-functional initiatives and external scientific collaborations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
