This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring Moderna stays ahead in a dynamic and competitive global landscape.
This individual will lead the design, execution, and evolution of Moderna's competitive intelligence capabilities within the Commercial organization. Acting as a strategic thought partner to Commercial and Portfolio leadership, the Global CI Lead will deliver foresight, market insights, and strategic recommendations to inform product positioning, scenario planning, and go-to-market strategies globally for Oncology. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, drives cross-functional alignment, and influences without authority to shape Moderna's competitive readiness and commercial success.
Here's What You'll Do- Own and lead the global competitive intelligence strategy for Oncology, spanning all pipeline programs across geographies.
- Monitor and analyze competitor pipelines, clinical trial data, regulatory strategies, commercial activities, and market trends to provide insights on competitive threats and opportunities.
- Deliver competitor insights that inform product development, launch strategies, and lifecycle management across Oncology portfolio.
- Represent the Oncology Competitive Intelligence function in key global Commercial planning forums, providing strategic foresight that supports global brand and launch planning.
- Evaluate the reliability of competitive intelligence research findings, upholding stringent standards for accuracy, relevance, and quality in all deliverables, and effectively communicate the level of evidence to stakeholders.
- Drive intelligence gathering efforts in collaboration with regional teams, ensuring insights are tailored to the nuances of both established and emerging markets.
- Act as a strategic partner to global Commercial, Portfolio, and Oncology Therapeutic Area leaders to proactively shape positioning, differentiation, and launch readiness through competitive intelligence insights.
- Present actionable insights that inform senior leadership's strategic decisions.
- Lead strategic vendor partnerships, ensuring delivery of high-impact insights while managing quality, timelines, and commercial alignment.
- Partner closely with Insights, Analytics, CI & Forecasting colleagues to continuously improve CI outputs, frameworks and methodologies, leveraging digital tools and automation to ensure efficiency and accuracy in intelligence delivery.
Here's What You'll Need (Basic Qualifications)- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in competitive intelligence, commercial strategy, strategic insights, or related roles in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, healthcare, technology, consulting, or other innovation-driven sectors
- Proven ability to lead competitive or market intelligence strategies that inform high-stakes decisions in Oncology, ideally at a global scale
- Strong understanding of product lifecycles, market shaping, and global dynamics - with ability to quickly learn regulatory and drug development environments
- Demonstrated success in translating data into strategic recommendations, engaging executive stakeholders, and influencing without authority
- Experience managing CI vendors or external partners with an emphasis on quality, timeliness, and alignment to strategic goals
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial, and Clinical Development

The salary range for this role is $167,000.00 - $300,700.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
