Full Job Description
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) has a unique opportunity for a GIS Architect to lead the agency's inaugural enterprise geospatial strategy. Preference will be given to candidates that reside in the Chicagoland area or willing to relocate.

In this role, the GIS Architect will join CMAP's growing Technology, Data & Applications team under the Deputy of Data and guide the development of CMAP's enterprise GIS architecture, governance model, standards, platform roadmap, and authoritative regional datasets. The GIS Architect will lead governance and architecture discussions, communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences, and build consensus across internal and external stakeholders on standards, platform priorities, and shared spatial definitions. The GIS Architect will manage modernization initiatives, platform upgrades, and lifecycle processes for enterprise, program, analytical, and public-facing GIS capabilities.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications

CMAP is seeking a spatial technology leader with:
  • At least six years of professional experience
  • A bachelor'sdegree in geography, urban planning, computer science, informationsystemsorrelated field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • GISP certification preferred

Preference will be given to candidates that reside in the Chicagoland area or willing to relocate.

Some relocation assistance is available for candidates that reside outside of CMAP regional boundaries including the counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Will, and part of Grundy.

Hiring Range is $88,651.73 - $113,030.90

This position is eligible for up to 100% remote work.
