RequirementsKey ResponsibilitiesGIS Data Analysis & Management- Analyze spatial and tabular datasets to support business requirements.
- Perform GIS data mining activities based on customer specifications.
- Create, modify, maintain, and validate GIS datasets.
- Process and convert data from multiple formats for use within GIS systems.
- Perform advanced geoprocessing and spatial analysis.
- Develop and maintain data integration and transformation workflows.
- Support data migration and conversion initiatives.
- Perform database maintenance and data-quality improvement activities.
Database Design & Technical Project Support- Support technical project activities involving:
- Database design
- GIS analysis

- Evaluate current data structures and recommend improvements.
- Support the development of scalable and efficient GIS workflows.
- Provide technical input on data standards and architecture.
Linear Referencing & Utility/Pipeline GIS- Apply linear referencing concepts and techniques to GIS data.

- Work with or support data aligned to the Utility and Pipeline Data Model (UPDM).
- Assist with utility network-related data and applications.
- Support GIS processes associated with utility or pipeline infrastructure.
GIS Mapping & Reporting- Develop specialized queries, maps, and reports based on customer requirements.
- Create visual products and analytical outputs to support business decision-making.
- Ensure maps and reports are accurate, complete, and aligned with customer specifications.
- Provide data and GIS deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
GIS Automation- Create and maintain automated GIS processes using:
- ModelBuilder
- Python
- Other GIS automation tools
- Improve repetitive GIS tasks through scripting and workflow automation.
- Maintain existing automated processes and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiency through automation.
Application Testing & User Support- Perform application testing.
- Develop or execute test scripts.
- Document defects and issues.
- Interface with users to understand requested changes and technical needs.
- Document business and system requirements.
- Support testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
- Provide technical guidance to GIS users and stakeholders.
Process Improvement- Analyze current business and GIS processes.
- Recommend best-practice solutions.
- Identify new technologies, tools, and applications that can improve interdepartmental and intradepartmental functions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives involving GIS data, applications, and workflows.
- Evaluate opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and reliability.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control- Perform QA/QC on GIS data before movement into production environments.
- Review versioned data and validate edits.
- Identify and resolve data-quality issues.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of GIS data.
- Support production data governance and quality standards.
Required QualificationsEducationCandidates must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in:
- Geography / GIS
- Engineering
- Computer Science
- Geospatial Science
- Information Systems
- Related technical field
AND- At least 3 years of professional GIS experience
OR- GIS Certificate with at least 3 years of related professional work experience in lieu of a related degree.
Experience- 3+ years of professional GIS experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in a utility or pipeline GIS environment preferred.
- Experience with spatial data analysis and geoprocessing.
- Experience with GIS database maintenance and data conversion.
- Experience supporting GIS users and technical projects.

- Remote work may be available one day per week based on business needs and client requirements.
Physical RequirementsThis position primarily involves computer-based GIS and analytical work. Candidates must be able to:
- Work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- Review detailed maps, data, and technical documentation.
- Perform repetitive keyboard and computer tasks.
- Communicate effectively in person, virtually, and through written correspondence.
- Participate in meetings and technical discussions.
- Travel occasionally, up to approximately 5%, as required.
