Geoscience / Geotechnical Lead

Location: North America (United States or Canada)
Preferred Locations: Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; Vancouver, BC

Play an integral role in delivering complex infrastructure, energy, resource, and industrial projects across North America. As the Geoscience / Geotechnical Lead, you will provide technical leadership for geoscience, geotechnical, and geohazard scopes that influence project feasibility, constructability, safety, and long-term asset performance.

Working closely with customers and multidisciplinary teams, you will lead investigation planning, technical interpretation, field programs, and project delivery while helping manage risk, drive technical excellence, and support informed decision-making on major capital projects.

Purpose of the role

You will lead geoscience and geotechnical delivery on major projects by combining technical expertise, project execution, and stakeholder collaboration to achieve safe, high-quality, and commercially successful outcomes. As a trusted advisor, you will support customers, mentor technical professionals, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex engineering and construction programs.

What you'll bring to the role

You are a seasoned geoscience or geotechnical professional with the technical depth and leadership capability to guide multidisciplinary teams through complex project challenges.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead geoscience and geotechnical scopes across infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, and resource projects.
  • Develop investigation strategies, site characterization programs, and technical execution plans.
  • Coordinate technical activities across engineering, environmental, project management, and construction disciplines.
  • Oversee field investigations, technical assessments, and customer deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and technical defensibility.
  • Identify and manage technical and delivery risks while supporting successful project outcomes.
  • Build strong customer relationships and provide practical, commercially focused solutions.
  • Support proposals, planning studies, and business development activities.
  • Mentor technical professionals and promote a culture of safety, collaboration, sustainability, and technical excellence.


Qualifications you will possess
  • A degree in Geoscience, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 15+ years of relevant experience delivering geoscience and/or geotechnical scopes for infrastructure, industrial, energy, or resource projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams and complex project delivery.
  • Expertise in geohazards, site investigations, geological interpretation, geotechnical characterization, and risk assessment.
  • Eligibility for professional registration in a North American jurisdiction, or the ability to obtain registration.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills.

Equivalent combinations of experience and demonstrated capability will be considered.

Moderate travel is expected, including periodic site visits and short-term field assignments during key phases of project execution.

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $183,221 to $269,443. Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions.
