Full Job Description
AECOM is looking for a Geologist/ Geological Modeller who can be based in any Western Canadian office: Victoria, Burnaby, Kelowna, Calgary or Edmonton.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a team of hydrogeologists, geologists, geochemists, geotechnical engineers and groundwater modellers on projects based throughout Canada and internationally.
- Interpret surficial and bedrock geology in three dimensions.
- Develop 3D geological models using borehole, geological map, geophysical, soil/rock chemistry and water quality data.
- Produce 2D cross sections, volume estimates, 3D surfaces and visuals for various end uses.
- Conducts field hydrogeological, geotechnical and/or geological investigation work as required including drilling oversight and logging soil and/or bedrock.
- Perform quality checks on geological, geomechanical and environmental sampling data.
- Support diverse projects in remediation, mining, civil infrastructure, contaminated sites, solid waste and water supply.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills.
- May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.

Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- B.Sc. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental or related engineering discipline.
- 4+ years of geological experience in mining, oil and gas or environmental industries.
- 1+ year demonstrated experience with geological modelling software packages (Leapfrog, Vulcan, RockWorks, EVS).
- 1+ year proficiency using industry standard GIS and/or CAD software packages.
- Willingness to complete field investigations in urban and/or remote settings, travel to meet project needs.
- A valid class 5 driver's license with no restrictions.
Preferred qualifications:
- 2+ years of core logging and/or geological or geomorphological mapping experience.
- 2+ years of geological modelling or resource estimation experience.
- Working knowledge of geostatistics and block modelling.
- Educational background or experience interpreting Quaternary geology in Canada or US.
- Eligible to register as a Professional Geoscientist or Engineer upon meeting work experience requirements.
- Experience using database software packages such as EQuIS, OpenGround, MX Deposit, acQuire.
- Working knowledge of relevant provincial, federal, and municipal acts and regulations in British Columbia and Alberta.
