  • Create detailed, comprehensible technical reports for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Organize project meetings and maintain documentation for timely project management.

Full Job Description
We are seeking a Geochemist.

Description of Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will undertake geochemical studies related to the mining industry. The position`s main functions are to:
  • Help the geochemistry team undertake mine waste studies.
  • Assist with analysis of large geochemical datasets and critical interpretation of geochemical data pertaining to mining environments.
  • Assist with mine site water quality predictions using geochemical modeling software.
  • Undertake geochemical/environmental fieldwork and collect rock, soil and water samples.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports that effectively communicate detailed geochemical information to non-specialists.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including organizing project meetings and documentation and implementing procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Requirements:

Skills and qualifications must include:
  • A degree specializing in geology or geochemistry, preferably with a higher degree involving significant aspects of environmental geochemistry and/or hydrogeochemistry.
  • A minimum of 3 years` of applicable experience;
  • A good understanding of geochemistry, geology, and mineralogy; knowledge of the Great Basin mineral deposits would be a plus.
  • Experience in the analysis of large geochemical datasets, including quality control, data interpretation, and reporting.
  • Ability to undertake fieldwork on mine sites including but limited too; mapping, sampling of mine waste, soils and waters and where needed field test applications.
  • General knowledge of mining-related environmental issues, regulations, and policies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint with specific expertise in Excel.
  • Experience using geochemical modeling software packages such as PHREEQC, MINTEQA2, and Geochemist`s Workbench.
  • Excellent critical analysis skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce well-written reports and give verbal presentations.
  • A proven ability to work independently and generate, implement and complete multiple work assignments in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel and undertake overseas fieldwork.

$80,000-$95,000 USD per annum in addition to bonus eligibility.
