Geological Technician

Oklahoma City, OK - 100% Onsite

Direct Hire

Pay: $80,000-$90,000+ depending on experience, plus bonus opportunity

This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)

We are seeking a Geological Technician to support geological interpretation, mapping, and subsurface data management for exploration and development activities. This individual will serve as the company's primary geological technical resource, managing critical databases while partnering closely with engineering to provide accurate geological information that supports operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage geological and drilling databases to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Develop and update geological maps, cross-sections, and subsurface interpretations using GeoGraphix and GIS software.
  • Organize, validate, and analyze geological, drilling, and production data.
  • Support petrophysical analysis and well-log interpretation.
  • Write SQL queries and utilize Microsoft Access to maintain and improve geological databases.
  • Leverage programming tools such as Python or other scripting languages to automate workflows and improve data analysis.
  • Evaluate opportunities to incorporate AI and emerging technologies into geological processes.
  • Prepare executive-level maps, technical reports, and presentation materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support drilling and development projects.
  • Maintain organized documentation and technical records while ensuring data quality and consistency.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geoscience, Earth Science, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of professional geology or geoscience experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with GeoGraphix.
  • Experience with GIS and geological mapping software.
  • Strong SQL and Microsoft Access database experience.
  • Programming knowledge in Python, Java, or similar languages is preferred.
  • Experience supporting petrophysical interpretation or subsurface analysis.
  • Strong understanding of geology, stratigraphy, and petroleum systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers and technical stakeholders.
