Full-time / OR 1st Assist / On-call requirement

Summary: Munson Healthcare is offering a fantastic job opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP; Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the exceptional practice. The ideal candidate will be joining a team of experienced, friendly, and highly motivated healthcare providers, clinicians, and support staff who are dedicated to delivering excellent care to their patients and community.

Position Duties/Highlights Include:

OR 1st Assist -
  • Serve as the primary surgical first assist for scheduled and add-on procedures.
  • Collaborate with OR Coordinators to ensure appropriate case carts, supplies, instrumentation, and equipment are available for each procedure.
  • Support circulating RNs and surgical technologists by assisting with surgical setup, equipment needs, and workflow optimization to enhance OR efficiency.
  • Manage preoperative and postoperative order entry and follow-up as appropriate.
  • Position and prepare patients safely and appropriately for surgical procedures.
  • Assist with fluoroscopy (X-ray guided) procedures and maintain familiarity with radiation safety practices.
  • Provide support during robotic-assisted surgical procedures.
  • Assisting in multiple surgical specialties, including:
    • Urology
    • Gynecology
    • Gynecologic Oncology
    • Vascular Surgery
    • Otolaryngology (ENT)
    • General Surgery
  • Occasional assist in:
    • Orthopedics
    • Neurosurgery
    • Plastic Surgery
  • Unrestricted on call can range from 1:4 to 1:8 nights and weekends

Ambulatory Setting -
  • Performs comprehensive patient assessments in the ambulatory setting, including history and physical examinations, surgery consultation, routine office follow up care, and post-operative care.
  • Orders diagnostic tests, such as echocardiograms, stress tests (exercise or pharmacologic), x-rays, ECG's, laboratory tests, and interprets test result.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and other therapeutic treatment for the benefit of patient health.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures, as needed, including post-procedure wound care.

Standard Qualifications:

Education / Training:
  1. Master's degree in nursing OR master's degree in physician assistant studies

Certification, Licensure, Registration:
  1. State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required.
