General Superintendent

Play an integral role in delivering world-class engineering, procurement, and construction projects that safely transform resources into the energy, chemicals, and infrastructure solutions our communities rely on every day. As General Superintendent, you will provide site leadership for complex construction programs, ensuring that all field activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives, customer expectations, and operational requirements. This role serves as a critical link between field execution, project management, engineering, procurement, and customer stakeholders, driving construction excellence from mobilization through project completion.

Purpose of the role

The General Superintendent provides overall leadership, direction, and coordination of all construction site activities for medium-sized capital projects. Operating as the senior field leader, you will oversee construction execution, field administration, field engineering, procurement coordination, workforce management, and subcontractor performance to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will foster a culture of operational excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement while promoting Worley's commitment to health, safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainable project delivery. Through proactive leadership and effective stakeholder engagement, you will enable successful project outcomes and create long-term value for customers.

You will be responsible for:
  • Providing leadership and oversight for all on-site construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Driving safe work execution and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leading construction teams, supervisors, craft professionals, subcontractors, and support personnel to achieve project objectives.
  • Implementing project execution plans, construction strategies, and site management processes in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating field construction activities with engineering, procurement, project controls, quality, logistics, and commissioning teams.
  • Managing workforce productivity, construction sequencing, resource allocation, and work prioritization to support schedule achievement.
  • Monitoring project performance, identifying execution risks, and implementing corrective actions to maintain project commitments.
  • Establishing strong relationships with customers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and key project stakeholders.
  • Managing site administration activities, including reporting, forecasting, progress measurement, and cost awareness initiatives.
  • Supporting constructability reviews, field engineering resolution, and execution planning to optimize project outcomes.
  • Leading issue resolution and conflict management activities while maintaining positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Promoting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety performance, execution efficiency, quality, and project delivery results.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of construction systems, processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Preparing and presenting project updates, progress reports, risk assessments, and recommendations to project and company leadership.

What you'll bring to the role:
  • University degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline; or an equivalent trade qualification combined with relevant training and experience.
  • Typically 10+ years of relevant construction experience with a degree, or 15+ years of relevant experience with a trade qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience leading field execution activities on medium-sized EPC, industrial, energy, chemicals, infrastructure, or resources projects.
  • Proven ability to manage projects ranging from approximately 250,000 to 2 million construction work hours and total installed costs of approximately $50 million to $400 million.
  • Strong understanding of construction management principles, project execution methodologies, field engineering, procurement interfaces, and site operations.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing subcontractor performance in a dynamic project environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction systems, tools, processes, scheduling practices, and project controls.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities with the ability to interpret complex information and implement practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
