Job Summary The General Superintendent is responsible for overseeing large-scale construction projects, managing field leadership teams, and ensuring adherence to budget, company process, schedule, safety, and quality objectives. This role serves as the primary liaison between executive leadership, project teams, and field operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities - Provide leadership and oversight for large-scale construction projects, mentoring and managing field leadership teams while ensuring projects are staffed, resourced, and executed effectively across multiple locations.
- Manage project execution in accordance with contract terms, conditions, scope of work, and project requirements, ensuring compliance with project specifications, owner expectations, and company objectives.
- Serve as the technical authority on contract documents, construction drawings, specifications, manufacturer data, submittals, RFIs, and constructability concerns, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, contractual obligations, and project requirements.
- Lead project planning and controls, including preconstruction activities, budgeting, forecasting, manpower planning, procurement coordination, schedule management, and weekly look-ahead planning to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
- Champion safety, quality, and operational excellence by enforcing company safety policies, overseeing inspections and quality control programs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and trade partners to resolve complex construction challenges, maintain strong working relationships, and drive successful project outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple large, complex construction projects simultaneously, assess performance against project objectives, and identify solutions to technical and operational challenges.
Other duties may be assigned as needed to support business operations.
Minimum Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressive construction leadership experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of Superintendent experience managing ground-up commercial, industrial, or civil construction projects valued at $50 million or more.
- Proven track record delivering complex construction projects, including data centers, healthcare facilities, transportation infrastructure, industrial facilities, high-rise buildings, or similarly complex projects.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable building, electrical, life-safety, and construction codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, project scheduling methodologies, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and resource planning.
- Demonstrated ability to review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and other contract documents to ensure successful project execution.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and field leadership teams simultaneously.
Preferred: - Experience leading large-scale projects exceeding $100 million in total construction value.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
