What You'll Do
The General Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations on construction projects, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role provides leadership and direction to field personnel, coordinates with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers, and enforces quality standards. The General Superintendent ensures the execution of work aligns with project plans, specifications, and company goals, while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all job sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety, Production, and Quality
Responsibility of all labor and subcontracted labor across all assigned projects - Safety, Production, Quality
Responsibility over all company and subcontracted labor on project sites Safety, Production, Quality
Responsible for reviewing and enabling good safety practices
Responsibility for ensuring good safety Practices
Responsible to keep records of all Safety Certifications, Trainings - Setup trainings as needed
Ensure weekly safety meetings are conducted (Toolbox Talks)
Drives Production on all projects and provides solutions and suggestions to field and PMs that allow for higher efficiency and production to meet or better cost estimates
Assist Foreman with tracking their production and intervening if production is not being met
Drives Quality at the company level for all projects and reviews all situations in which rework occurs with the PM and DOC to ensure that we are minimizing impacts

Labor, Scheduling, and Forecasting
Responsibility to assign Labor to Connectteams, Maintain Connectteams, Schedule our team as required
Provide weekly labor forecasting via connectteams
Assist PM and Foremen with project planning for all projects
Assist PM and Foremen with developing project schedules
Provide PM with input to monthly financial forecasting
Approve all Weekly Timesheets from their assigned projects
Field Leadership and Training
Responsible for direct mentorship of foremen
Responsibility for establishing systems of training and mentorship for our field team members
Responsible for administering monthly field training
Responsible for evaluation and development of our field team members via the career paths
Hiring and Staffing
Responsible to hire/acquire talent to fill open field positions in the company. Conduct or delegate each field team interview
Responsible for staffing their team as directed by the Director of Construction
Site Visits and Customer Coordination
Visit all project sites weekly and as needed and ensure our field team's concerns and needs are being met by the project teams
Every time the Supt is on site, they should have a conversation with their customer counterpart (either Superintendent, General Superintendent or job field leader)
Process Improvement and Preconstruction Support
Assists Preconstruction and estimating as needed for feedback with respect to constructability
Assist DOC and other team members to develop and implement new processes
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has full authority to conduct annual performance reviews, build quarterly goals, and make requests for pay increases to the Director of Construction for their direct report. Authorized to fully follow disciplinary form and process for any direct or indirect report. This position will be fully responsible for staffing their team as directed by the Director of Construction.
Direct report: Foremen
Indirect report: Mechanics and Apprentices
Requirements
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a Superintendent that has 10+ years' experience in the field working for a mechanical contractor and at least 3 years as a superintendent.
Looking for our superintendents to manage projects of size up to 25M of mechanical scope.
Superintendent should be able to manage multiple projects and up to 5 project foremen with teams exceeding 40 team members
Education/Certification
Master's certification in HVAC, Plumbing, or relevant trade highly preferred
Experience in managing commissioning preferred.
OSHA certifications
Required Knowledge
Minimum 10 years verifiable experience in commercial HVAC and/or construction field
Minimum 10 years of experience in large commercial construction
Skill and Ability
Expert level of verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently, Spanish a bonus
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to use significant independent judgment
Excellent time management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
Proficiency in Procore preferred
Schedule & Travel
Monday-Friday; some weekend work as needed
Travel to jobsite(s) as needed
Physical & Work Conditions
Standing for extended time periods
Operate in open work areas with moderate everyday noise
Ability to operate in temperatures and weather of all seasons
