Job Description

AECOM Hunt is looking to hire a field-proven General Superintendent to lead construction delivery for a complex, billion-dollar aviation construction program in Chicago, IL.

Job Duties:
  • Direct daily work across scope of the job, coordinating temporary works, access, laydown, traffic control, and public interface on constrained urban sites.
  • Optimize deliveries, hoisting, staging, and just-in-time material flow; manage crane strategy, road closures, and event/operations interfaces.
  • Lead punch list and deficiency closure; coordinate start-up, commissioning, and system turnovers.
  • Lead constructability reviews; resolve field clashes and tolerances with structures/MEP/architectural finishes; support BIM-enabled coordination.
  • Validate quantities, measure work-in-place, support change management, and verify progress for pay applications; monitor production rates and earned value.
  • Coordinate with owner reps, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), utilities, concessions/tenants, and operations teams to protect public safety and minimize disruption.
  • Set expectations with trade partners; run daily huddles, weekly coordination, and visual management routines.
  • : Ensure adherence to codes, permits, and environmental requirements; maintain documentation and as-builts for closeout.
  • Risk & readiness: Anticipate weather/seasonal impacts, long-lead items, and supply chain risks; implement mitigations and contingency plans.
  • Champion zero-incident culture.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • BS Engineering/Construction Management or similar curriculum and 12 years of construction Superintendent experience or AS and 14 years of relevant experience or HS/GED and 16 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid US Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in aviation construction.
  • Strong and progressive field leadership experience with 12 years of experience as Superintendent/General Superintendent on large, complex programs; experience on mega projects (>$500M) strongly preferred.
  • Proven delivery across multiple work packages and concurrent zones on schedule-driven, occupied, or operational sites.
  • Expertise in heavy coordination: structures, MEP systems, vertical transportation, envelope, civil/utility interfaces, and complex phasing/turnovers.
  • Mastery of short-interval planning, production tracking, critical path recovery, and high-risk work planning (cranes/hoisting, energized systems, confined space).
  • Demonstrated leadership with diverse trade partners in union and environments.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and issue-resolution skills in a multi-stakeholder setting.
  • OSHA 30; additional high-risk certifications as applicable.
  • Mega program experience in one or more sectors: aviation, stadiums/arenas, healthcare, education, data centers, high rise complex facilities.
  • Proficiency with Procore (or similar), Primavera P6/MS Project, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Power BI dashboards.
  • Experience delivering CMAR and progressive delivery models.
  • Proven success leading commissioning and turnover on phased, operational campuses

Physical Demands:
  • The following physical demands represent those typically required of individuals working in construction field roles, with or without accommodation. Construction field positions require physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to climb ladders and stairs, use personnel hoists, and move through various terrain and active construction zones. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Team members must be capable of using their hands to handle tools and materials, and perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted may be necessary on an occasional basis.

Work Environment:
  • Individuals in construction field roles work primarily on active job sites where exposure to environmental and job-related hazards is common, with or without accommodation. These environments may include proximity to heavy machinery, elevated work areas, airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical risks. Noise levels may vary from moderate to high depending on the phase of construction. Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and must remain alert to ensure safety. Additional duties may be assigned as needed based on the scope and progress of the project.
