Job Summary

Allison Outdoor Advertising is a family-owned company that has been proudly serving Western North Carolina and beyond for nearly 70 years. We specialize in helping local and regional businesses grow through creative, effective outdoor advertising solutions.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated General Sales Manager (GSM) to lead our sales team, manage key client relationships, and drive continued growth in our markets. This is a hands-on, “player-coach” position ideal for someone who loves mentoring sales professionals, engaging with the community, and building long-term partnerships with local businesses. The right candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a passion for sales, and a deep appreciation for the value of local relationships in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Essential Job Functions

The General Sales Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and supporting a team of Account Executives while maintaining a personal account list and driving overall revenue performance. This role combines leadership, strategy, and field-level selling to ensure the success of the sales department and the continued growth of Allison Outdoor Advertising.

Key Responsibilities

·Sales Leadership & Coaching: Lead, motivate, and coach the sales team through daily interaction, ride-alongs, and one-on-one development meetings. Provide training on prospecting, customer presentations, pricing strategies, and closing techniques. Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance and activity goals.

·Personal Sales & Account Management: Manage and grow a personal list of key local and regional accounts. Build lasting relationships, identify new opportunities, and develop marketing strategies that help clients grow their businesses through outdoor advertising.

·Revenue & Budget Management: Develop annual and quarterly sales budgets, monitor results, and adjust strategies to meet or exceed goals. Track sales performance, pricing, and inventory to maximize revenue and profitability.

·Community & Client Relations: Represent Allison Outdoor within the community, developing strong relationships with business leaders, advertisers, agencies, and civic organizations. Serve as an ambassador for the value and impact of outdoor advertising.

·Operational Collaboration: Work closely with operations, creative, and administrative teams to ensure smooth campaign execution, accurate billing, and superior customer service. Communicate local market needs and opportunities to support business growth.

·Sales Process & CRM Management: Oversee the sales team’s use of CRM systems to track pipelines, proposals, and renewals. Review activity reports and ensure accurate recordkeeping for forecasting and planning.

Qualifications

·Minimum 5+ years of successful sales experience, preferably in media, outdoor, or marketing-related industries.

·Proven leadership or management experience with the ability to coach and motivate a sales team.

·Strong understanding of consultative and solution-based selling.

·Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

·Highly organized and goal-driven, with strong attention to detail.

·Proficiency with CRM and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

·Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client visits and market travel.
