General Manager Job summary: The General Manager Plan, direct, or coordinate the operations of companies or public and private sector organizations. Duties and responsibilities include formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials and human resources. The goal is to ensure that daily operations meet and exceed daily performance expectations and to increase the company's overall market share.
Responsibilities: - Direct and coordinate activities of businesses or departments.
- Scheduling Work and Activities - Scheduling events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
- Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with board members, organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
- Determine staffing requirements, and interview, hire and train new employees, or oversee those personnel processes.
- Monitor businesses and agencies to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed services while staying within budgetary limits.
- Manage the movement of goods into and out of warehouse facilities.
- Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates -- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Making Decisions and Solving Problems - Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings - Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
- Quality Control Analysis -- Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree required
- Master' s Degree required or MBA preferred
