Job Description

As an automotive General Manager with Southern Auto Group, you must consistently and profitably meet vehicle sales quotas through expert management and leadership of the sales team and by forecasting sales and maintaining proper inventory levels in terms of amount and vehicle types. In addition, the General Manager hires, trains, and monitors team member performance; resolves customer complaints; and helps with closings when necessary while overseeing growth and development.

The ideal candidate has some post-secondary education (degree, coursework, certification, etc.), at least two years of experience in a large-volume dealership, and some supervisory or management experience. Candidates must have a strong business acumen, sales aptitude, and a willingness to accept full accountability for sales targets whether hit or missed. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong leadership and motivational skills are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops viable sales forecasts and associated sales strategies
  • Hires, trains, and monitors team member performance
  • Establishes sales quotas and manages overall sales goals
  • Ensures all sales targets are met or exceeded
  • Provides timely and accurate reports on all sales activities as needed
  • Monitors and adjusts inventory to optimize customer choice
  • Manages the department budget
  • Performs other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of progressive and relevant experience
  • Sales experience with verifiable proof of meeting sales target
  • Experience in supervising and managing staff
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress

  • Strong organization skills, able to multi-task, and can manage time to meet frequently changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
