This is an opportunity to shape the strategic future of a $250M business. As the General Manager of Performance Tapes North America, you will lead our next phase of profitable growth. This role requires a forward-thinking leader in application based businesses, to define and execute the core purpose and mission of the business. Entrusted with full P&L and operational responsibility, you will have the autonomy to build the culture, scale operations, expand into new markets, and deliver strong financial results.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Strategic Leadership
  • Direct P&L responsibility and leadership.
  • Drive a relentless focus on the customer by gathering actionable market insights, aligning organizational capabilities with customer expectations, and delivering application based solutions that build long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Lead the development and implementation of regional specific strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvements in productivity and profitability as well as expansion capital investments.
  • Ensure that the regional business achieves the highest possible level of return on total capital.
  • Establish clear direction and set challenging goals and budgets with the finance team for individual operating departments.
  • Monitor overall performance against annual operating and profit plans.
  • Build and empower a high-performing, collaborative team to co-create and execute a winning regional strategy and operating plan.

Customer & Operational Excellence
  • Take a clear ownership stake in the development and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with customers that are rooted in deep technical understanding and partnership , strategic partners, management, and the corporate office that are required for success.
  • Align the organization behind a passion for the customer and create application based solutions by driving change, communication, values, integrity, and organizational development.
  • Identify critical opportunities and challenges, design innovative, well-tested strategies and drive from decision through to a close.

Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Attract, retain, and develop high-potential talent. Build a strong team of experts in their field and deeply embedded within their customers
  • Champion continuous learning and professional development, ensuring all team members are empowered with clear, actionable, and well-communicated annual goals.
  • Actively mentor and evaluate the regional leadership team, providing continuous coaching and tailored development plans to elevate overall team performance.
  • Strategically align workforce planning and resource allocation to outpace the competition, ensuring the flawless execution of growth priorities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or equivalent required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of business experience within the tapes, adhesives, or other application based material science businesses/ industries.
  • Previous commercial leadership experience is highly preferred, even more so in application based businesses that require strong R&D connectivity to the customers.
  • Deep exposure to a manufacturing business and its constituent functional areas.

Skills & Competencies
  • Sales-oriented, Marketing-oriented, and Operations-oriented.
  • Strong analytical and financial management skills with a strong business acumen.
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishments in business development and growth market creation, possessing a firm understanding of the drivers for success in strategic marketing. Detailed appreciation for technical sales needs into custom applications
  • Demonstrated success in cross-regional or cross BU projects or initiatives.
  • Innovative problem-solving character with the ability to make, implement, and manage difficult decisions that may create internal and external conflicts.
  • High level of curiosity to learn
  • Effective organizational and executive presence with the confidence to act independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and function-specific software (e.g., Salesforce.com)


Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $294,000 - $350,000 / year.

The hiring base salary range above represents what Avery Dennison reasonably expects to pay for this position as of the date of this posting. Actual salaries will vary within the range, and in some circumstances may be above or below the range, based on various factors including but not limited to a candidate's relevant skills, experience, education and training, and location, as well as the job scope and complexity, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel required for the position, which may change depending on the candidate pool.
