General Manager/Chief Operating Officer

An exceptional opportunity is available for an accomplished private club or hospitality executive with a proven track record of leadership, operational excellence, financial management, and exceptional member service.

Vasari Country Club, a private, gated, bundled-golf community in Bonita Springs, Florida, is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (GM/COO) to lead the Club into its next chapter. The successful candidate will be a highly visible, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader who will work closely with the Board of Directors, members, and management team to build upon Vasari's strong foundation while positioning the Club for continued long-term success.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer serves as the senior executive responsible for the overall leadership, management, and day-to-day operations of Vasari Country Club.

Working in partnership with the Board of Directors, the GM/COO will provide strategic leadership and operational direction across all areas of the Club, lead and develop the senior management team, ensure sound financial stewardship, and champion an exceptional member experience.

The GM/COO will be a highly visible and engaged presence throughout the Club and community and will build strong, trusted relationships with members, employees, the Board of Directors, committees, business partners, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic and operational leadership across all Club departments, including golf, food and beverage, membership, recreation, racquet sports, fitness, facilities, grounds, and administration.
• Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and execute the Club's strategic plan, long-range objectives, policies, and organizational priorities.
• Lead, develop, mentor, and hold accountable a high-performing team of department heads while fostering a culture of collaboration, professionalism, service excellence, accountability, and employee engagement.
• Oversee the Club's financial performance, including annual operating and capital budgets, financial reporting, internal controls, expense management, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
• Maintain a highly visible and approachable presence throughout the Club, build strong relationships with members, and ensure consistently exceptional service and member satisfaction.
• Monitor member feedback, industry trends, and evolving member expectations to identify opportunities to enhance programs, amenities, services, and the overall member experience.
• Oversee the maintenance, improvement, and long-term planning of the Club's facilities, golf course, grounds, amenities, infrastructure, and other physical assets.
• Provide leadership and oversight for major capital projects, renovations, construction, and facility improvements.
• Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and coordination among Club departments.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and Club management, providing timely and accurate information, analysis, and recommendations to support effective governance and informed decision-making.
• Ensure Club operations comply with applicable laws and regulations, governing documents, Board policies, safety requirements, employment practices, and established risk-management standards.
• Represent Vasari Country Club professionally within the community and private club industry while developing strong relationships with professional organizations, business partners, vendors, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Leverage technology, industry best practices, and innovative solutions to continuously improve operational efficiency, communication, financial management, and the member experience.
• Protect and enhance the reputation, culture, financial strength, and long-term success of Vasari Country Club.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Club Management, Sports Management, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible senior leadership experience in a private club, country club, luxury hospitality organization, or comparable environment.
• Prior experience as a General Manager, Chief Operating Officer, Assistant General Manager, Clubhouse Manager, or comparable senior leadership position strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success leading multiple Club operations and developing, mentoring, and retaining high-performing management teams.
• Proven experience working collaboratively and effectively with a volunteer Board of Directors and committees.
• Strong financial and business acumen, including experience with operating and capital budgets, financial statements, forecasting, internal controls, and long-range financial planning.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategic and long-range plans.
• Experience overseeing complex capital projects, renovations, construction, and major facility improvements.
• Comprehensive understanding of private club operations, governance, member relations, service standards, and industry best practices.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal, presentation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build strong and productive relationships with Board members, committee members, members, employees, vendors, and community stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion and remain calm, decisive, and professional when addressing complex or sensitive matters.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and accountable, with the ability to establish priorities, delegate effectively, manage competing demands, and ensure follow-through.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Club management/POS systems; experience with Jonas or comparable Club management software preferred.
• Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as necessary to meet the operational needs of the Club.

PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS
• Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation preferred.
• Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation desirable.
• Community Association Manager (CAM) license preferred, as applicable.
• Active membership and involvement in the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) and other relevant professional associations preferred.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.
