Full Job Description
General Ledger Accountant

Own the full monthly and quarterly close in NetSuite: journal entries, flux analysis, account reconciliations, prepaid and accrual rollforwards, intercompany if any, and monthly close checklist through management reporting.

Duration:3-6 months

40 hours per week. Hybrid on site 3 days per week South San Francisco

Pay: $65-75/hr

What You Will Work On

Operational accounting end to end: AP (vendor setup, invoice coding, payment runs), AR/cash application as needed, expense reports, credit cards, and T&E.

Clinical and R&D accruals - CRO, investigator, CMC, and other program spend - with backup that can survive an auditor.

Balance sheet account ownership: cash, prepaid, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, payroll-related accounts, deferred items.

Payroll accounting support (not necessarily running payroll): journal entries, benefit/accrual true-ups, equity/SBC entries if directed.

Audit and year-end PBC: recon packages, support files, sample pull, and follow-up with external auditors.

NetSuite hygiene: saved searches, close reports, vendor/item master cleanup, and flag process gaps to Finance leadership. You are a power user, not the admin/developer.

Ad hoc: 1099s, sales/use tax support, fixed asset adds, lease/prepaid schedules, and whatever else a lean G&A shop throws at close week.

Document the desk so the person on leave can step back in without a scavenger hunt.

Close is on calendar, reconciling items are aged and explained

Clinical spend is accrued on a supportable basis, not "we'll catch it next month."

Vendors get paid, the subledgers tie, and NetSuite is not a junk drawer.

What You Will Bring

5-8+ years accounting, including hands-on NetSuite GL (journal entry, recon, close - not "I exported a report once").

Full-cycle close ownership in a lean environment (start-up, biotech, or similarly small finance team). You have been the person who actually closes the books.

Strong US GAAP. Comfortable with prepaid/accrual accounting, expense classification, and balance-sheet integrity.

Excel that is actually strong (lookups, pivots, recon templates). Comfortable building a recon from scratch.

Biotech, life sciences, or other R&D-heavy company experience preferred - clinical/CRO accruals are a real part of this job.

Self-directed.

Preferred

Public-company or pre-IPO close / audit experience.

CPA or CPA-track.

Bill.com, Concur/Expensify, or similar AP/T&E tools alongside NetSuite.

Fixed assets and 1099 process.

What You Can Expect

  • An inspirational place for you to do your best work, be engaged in meaningful ways, and continually develop the skills, competencies and qualities that set our team apart.
  • Compensation commensurate with your qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market and operational factors.
  • Total Rewards include: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Professional Development Program, Paid Time Off and Paid Sick Time (in geographies where legally required).
