Job Description

Title: Enterprise ServiceNow - SPM Architect

What You'll Do:

As a SPM Architect, you will serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader for ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) engagements and pre-sales activities, spanning strategic planning, demand and intake, portfolio delivery, and financial planning. You will architect, propose, and lead solution delivery based on requirements provided by the Slalom team and clients. Your solutions will be holistic, scalable, and designed with repeatable patterns for maximum productivity. You will engage confidently with both business and technology stakeholders, demonstrating high business proficiency, professional maturity, and executive presence. Your primary responsibility is solution architecture and delivery leadership. That said, this is a techno-functional role: you bring enough process depth to cover for the business process consultant when an engagement calls for it, and enough commercial judgment to support engagement management periodically on scope, estimation, staffing, and delivery planning.
  • Lead ServiceNow SPM implementation workshops to deliver business process designs, technical requirements, user stories, and solution artifacts
  • Architect end-to-end SPM solutions including strategic planning and alignment, demand and idea intake, project and portfolio management, agile and test management, resource management, financial planning and cost transparency, and application portfolio management
  • Develop comprehensive solution design documents and roadmaps from complex planning, delivery, resource, and financial requirements
  • Partner with clients using a future-focused mindset to understand their planning cadence, delivery operating model, funding process, and portfolio outcomes, aligning ServiceNow capabilities to measurable improvements in throughput and investment transparency
  • Lead and participate in design workshops, development, testing, deployment, and organizational change activities across enterprise and public sector accounts
  • Architect SPM operating models, portfolio and investment governance frameworks, demand intake and prioritization methodologies, hybrid waterfall and agile delivery strategies, and resource and capacity planning approaches
  • Ensure quality delivery of SPM solutions leveraging ServiceNow best practices, platform standards, and proven implementation patterns
  • Advise executive stakeholders on portfolio performance posture, investment prioritization, delivery throughput, resource capacity constraints, and planning maturity
  • Flex into business process consultant work on an as-needed basis, running discovery and design sessions, eliciting requirements, and writing epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria when an engagement calls for it
  • Support engagement management periodically, contributing to scope definition, estimation, staffing plans, risk and dependency management, and delivery planning alongside the engagement lead
  • Mentor teammates on SPM platform best practices including strategic planning and alignment, demand and portfolio design, agile and test management, resource and capacity models, and financial planning patterns
  • Respond to Requests for Information and Proposals (RFIs/RFPs) with authoritative SPM content, implementation approaches, and value propositions
  • Contribute to practice development through delivery accelerators, thought leadership, industry insights, and SPM-focused client offerings
  • Collaborate across ServiceNow SPM and adjacent workflows including Enterprise Architecture, Application Portfolio Management, IT Service Management, IT Asset Management, AI, and Data Foundations to deliver integrated platform solutions

What You'll Bring:

You are a seasoned Strategic Portfolio Management practitioner who thrives in complex enterprise environments and has a track record of delivering transformational ServiceNow SPM implementations. You lead from the architecture seat, and you are equally comfortable stepping into process work or helping steer an engagement when the team needs it.
  • 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow SPM design and delivery experience, with deep expertise across Strategic Portfolio Management, Project and Portfolio Management, Demand Management, Agile and Test Management, Resource Management, and Financial Planning
  • Proven ability to deliver complex implementations with multiple stakeholders, recommending and executing solutions that drive measurable business value, adoption, and organizational alignment
  • Passion for leveraging ServiceNow SPM to streamline planning and delivery operations, improve planner, PMO, and delivery team experiences, and bring visibility and control to demand, investment, and delivery across the portfolio
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels of an organization, from PMO leads and platform teams to CIO, CFO, and C-suite executives, translating portfolio, investment, and delivery concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong consultative approach with the ability to assess portfolio and planning maturity, define roadmaps, manage client expectations, and deliver on tight schedules with high attention to detail
  • Experience leading solution design across strategic planning and alignment, demand and idea intake, project and portfolio management, agile and test management, resource management, financial planning and cost transparency, and application portfolio management
  • Fluency in process and functional strategic planning, demand and intake, project and portfolio delivery, agile delivery, resource management, and financial planning to run a requirements or design workshop and cover for the business process consultant when needed
  • Commercial and delivery judgment sufficient to support engagement management periodically, including estimation, scope and change control, staffing models, and risk management
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a trusted advisor and relationship manager to client stakeholders throughout engagement lifecycles
  • Experience facilitating executive workshops focused on planning cadence design, demand intake and prioritization, resource and capacity modeling, and portfolio governance

Qualifications:
  • At least 5 full-lifecycle ServiceNow SPM implementations in the role of technical lead, solution architect, or enterprise architect

Required Certifications:
  • Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • Certified Application Developer (CAD)
  • CIS - Data Foundations (CIS-DF)
  • CIS - Strategic Portfolio Management (CIS-SPM)

  • CIS - IT Service Management (CIS-ITSM)

Platform & Integration Expertise:
  • Strong ServiceNow platform expertise (JavaScript, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP APIs, Workspace and UI Builder configuration, scoped applications, and Reporting/Performance Analytics)
  • Strong platform data foundation knowledge, including application, business capability, and cost models and their relationship to the CMDB
  • Experience integrating ServiceNow SPM with PPM and agile tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, Planview, Clarity), ERP and financial systems, HR systems for resource data, and enterprise reporting platforms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong executive presence
  • Experience leading executive stakeholder discussions, business case development, and value/ROI modeling
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience preferred
