Who You'll Work With

As a Senior Director of Data Engineering & Architecture at Slalom, you will operate as a senior leader within the Data & AI practice, driving strategic growth, market differentiation, and enterprise-scale delivery. You will lead and inspire multiple teams of Data Engineering and Architecture leaders, shaping Slalom's offerings and strengthening our position in the market.

You will partner closely with market leadership, clients, and cross-functional practice leaders to define and execute strategy-ensuring we deliver measurable business impact while scaling a high-performing, inclusive organization. This role combines practice leadership, market development, and executive client engagement with accountability for business outcomes.

What You'll Do

Enterprise Leadership & People Strategy
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a multi-layered leadership team (people leaders, architects, and engineers) across the East region.
  • Define and drive a talent strategy that supports practice growth, succession planning, and long-term capability needs.
  • Foster a high-performance, inclusive culture aligned to Slalom's values.
  • Coach leaders to effectively manage team performance, career growth, and engagement at scale.

Practice & Business Leadership
  • Own and drive practice strategy, growth, and health in the East region, including hiring plans, capability development, and financial performance.
  • Partner with market and capability leaders to define and evolve go-to-market strategy, offerings, and differentiation in Data Engineering & Architecture.
  • Establish scalable frameworks, standards, and best practices to enable consistent, high-quality delivery across teams.
  • Drive innovation and adoption of emerging technologies (e.g., AI-accelerated engineering, modern data platforms) to maintain market leadership.
  • Oversee practice metrics including revenue, utilization, margin, pipeline, and capacity planning to ensure sustainable growth.

Client & Market Leadership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive client stakeholders (VP, SVP, C-level), shaping enterprise data strategies and transformation roadmaps.
  • Lead large, complex, and strategic pursuits, contributing to sales, solutioning, and deal closure.
  • Represent Slalom externally through thought leadership, speaking engagements, and industry presence.
  • Build and maintain strategic client relationships and partnerships with cloud providers and ecosystem partners (AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake).

Strategic Delivery Oversight
  • Provide executive oversight and guidance across a portfolio of engagements, ensuring alignment to client outcomes and Slalom standards.
  • Drive enterprise-scale solution architecture and oversee complex data platform implementations across cloud ecosystems.
  • Ensure alignment between business strategy, data architecture, and engineering execution across engagements.

Engagement & Portfolio Management
  • Oversee multiple concurrent engagements, ensuring delivery excellence, risk management, and financial performance.
  • Partner with engagement leaders to resolve escalations, remove roadblocks, and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Balance strategic oversight with selective engagement in critical client situations where leadership intervention is required.

Quality, Innovation & Scale
  • Establish and enforce delivery excellence standards, frameworks, and reusable assets across the practice.
  • Champion the use of automation, AI tooling, and modern engineering practices to drive scalability and efficiency.
  • Ensure a strong focus on data platforms, pipelines, and architecture, while enabling integration with broader analytics ecosystems.

Experience & Expertise
  • 12-15+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in people leadership, including leading leaders and managing large, distributed teams.
  • Proven experience driving practice growth, business development, and client account expansion.
  • Deep expertise in modern cloud data ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and enterprise data platforms.
  • Strong background in consulting or client-facing environments, with experience leading large, complex engagements.


Leadership Capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at an enterprise leadership level, influencing strategy, culture, and outcomes.
  • Experience managing regional practice financials (e.g., revenue, margin, utilization, pipeline).
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to engage and influence senior client stakeholders.

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this Senior Director role, we are hiring at the following targeted base pay salary ranges:

Boston, New York, Washington DC: $253,000 - $319,000

All other locations: $232,000 - $293,000

In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
