Full Job Description
Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized General Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for commercial and government construction projects with a strong emphasis on pre-engineered building (PEB) systems and structural installations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage multiple crews, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with contract specifications, applicable codes, and government standards. Travel is required for this position.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all on-site activities for commercial and government construction projects.
  • Oversee the installation of pre-engineered metal buildings, structural steel systems, and modular components.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and in-house crews to maintain project schedule and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Work closely with project managers to develop and maintain detailed construction schedules.
  • Anticipate potential delays or issues and proactively implement solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Schedule and sequence work related to civil, structural, architectural, and MEP scopes in alignment with PEB delivery and erection.
  • Ensure all work meets or exceeds contract drawings, specifications, and performance standards.
  • Oversee quality control for PEB erection, foundation systems, anchor bolt layouts, and building envelope installation.
  • Verify compliance with local, state, and federal building codes, including government contract requirements and inspection protocols.
  • Enforce strict adherence to OSHA safety standards and internal safety policies.
  • Conduct site-specific safety meetings, toolbox talks, and regular safety audits.
  • Supervise field staff, foremen, subcontractors, and tradespeople to ensure a productive and respectful work environment.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for inspectors, owner's representatives, and government officials.
  • Provide daily updates to project managers and prepare site progress reports, RFIs, and field change documentation.


Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in commercial or government construction, with at least 3 years overseeing pre-engineered building installations and structural work.
  • High school diploma, Associate's/Bachelor's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 30 required; First Aid/CPR, EM 385-1-1, and QCM/SSHO certification for federal projects (preferred).
  • Must be capable of passing a DoD security background check and receiving a contractor base pass as required to work on federal property.

Skills:
  • Proven experience in structural layout, steel erection, and PEB installation.
  • Familiarity with USACE quality and safety requirements (plus).
  • Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam).

Pay Range: $130,000-$135,000/YR (skill and experience dependent)
