Job Description Summary

Position Objective

The Gas Technician demonstrates professionalism through exceptional customer service, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to safety. This role is responsible for the delivery, installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of gas-fired construction heaters and temporary heating equipment used on commercial, industrial, and construction job sites.

The successful candidate will troubleshoot and repair heating equipment, perform gas system inspections, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and provide customers with operational training and support. This position also assists with equipment preparation, inventory management, and mentoring junior technicians.

Position Responsibilities

  • Deliver, install, and service gas-fired construction heaters and temporary heating equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair burners, regulators, ignition systems, gas valves, and controls.

  • Perform gas leak testing, safety inspections, and equipment commissioning.

  • Train customers on the safe operation of heating equipment.

  • Complete service reports, inspections, and delivery documentation.

  • Inspect, clean, test, and prepare returned equipment for rental readiness.

  • Coordinate with customers and internal teams regarding deliveries, pickups, and service calls.

  • Safely operate company vehicles and comply with all safety procedures.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service support.

Requirements

  • Gas Fitter Class B ticket required; Class A considered an asset.

  • Experience servicing gas-fired heating equipment, construction heaters, or HVAC systems.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Knowledge of propane and natural gas systems, regulators, and gas safety procedures.

  • Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Able to work independently in construction and industrial environments.

  • Available for occasional evening, weekend, and emergency service calls.

Preferred Experience

  • Temporary heating or equipment rental industry experience.

  • Experience with direct-fired and indirect-fired construction heaters.

  • Familiarity with propane tank, cylinder, and manifold systems.

Base Pay Range

32.53 - 46.75
