This position reports to:Director, Data Center Services Center of Excellence
As a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Commissioning Engineer, you'll take the lead in ensuring medium-voltage GIS and Ring Main Unit (RMU) systems are commissioned safely, accurately, and to the highest technical standards. This role places you at the center of complex customer projects, where your expertise, problem-solving skills, and on-site leadership directly shape system performance and customer confidence.

You will be mainly accountable for:• Lead commissioning of ABB GIS and RMU systems in accordance with ABB standards, customer specifications, and applicable IEEE / IEC / ANSI requirements.
• Create commissioning work plans, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
• Support execution and manage commissioning activities through energization and customer acceptance.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Integrated FAT (IFAT).
• Interface with customers, EPCs, utilities, and internal ABB teams.
• Identify commissioning risks and lead mitigation actions.
• Support contract managers with technical input related to scope and claims.
• Perform site visits to support commissioning teams.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
Qualifications:• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of commissioning and field engineering experience.
• Strong experience with ABB GIS (ZX Portfolio) and RMU (SafeRing / SafePlus).
• Experience with ABB Protection & Control platforms (ZEE600, SSC600, PCM600).
• Knowledge of generator paralleling systems and critical power infrastructure.
• Proficient technical writing skills for commissioning documentation.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $100,500 and $160,800 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
