Full Job Description
Participates in the planning, development, scheduling, and the performance of engineering assignments related to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas distribution, pressure regulating systems, including standard projects. Applies engineering practices as directed by other team members.

Essential Functions: 

  • Under direction, designs systems or installations to fit objectives, conforming to industry standards, guidelines and regulations of federal, state and local authorities

  • Gas systems include, but are not limited to, regulator stations, telemetry, commercial worker/monitor regulator sets, uprates, distribution main projects and culvert crossings.

  • Performs site layouts and prepare necessary documents for procurement, permitting and construction.  Specifies and procure materials and equipment

  • Develops and maintains field procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and procedures, federal, state and local regulations and codes

  • Coordinates construction activities with customers, contractors, States, Municipalities and internal departments

  • Assists in the oversite of construction activities to insure specification and code compliance. Ensure compliance with field procedures and the coordination with Gas Control

  • Reviews purchase requisitions, and invoices related to departmental activity.

  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.

  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Maintains accurate records and files.

  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.

  • Assists in gas distribution system restoration efforts during emergencies.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • ​Thorough knowledge of distribution construction and maintenance work practices and procedures.

  • Knowledge of applicable governmental code and regulations.

  • Knowledge of welding and fusing principles.

  • Working knowledge of environmental requirements affecting related activities.

  • Familiarity with MS Office and AutoCAD.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field.

Experience:   

  • Three (3) or more years related experience is required.

  • Engineering design experience preferred.

  • Gas experience is preferred.                     

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid motor vehicle operator license is required.

Working Conditions:

This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing.

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs are involved. 

  • Field observations will be a required part of this role.

  • Job can require traveling to operating districts, gas facilities and companies within and outside the state.

  • Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car.

$100,490.00-$111,660.00
