About the Role

As a Fullstack Engineer, you'll help build, support, and enhance the platform capabilities that power event-driven communication across Northwestern Mutual. You'll work on highly available integration services, APIs, messaging technologies, and cloud-enabled solutions while collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and designers. Our engineering environment is diverse, providing opportunities to contribute across web development, backend services, automation, CI/CD, cloud technologies, and platform engineering initiatives.

This role is ideal for a technically curious engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, taking ownership of outcomes, and contributing to a platform with enterprise-wide impact. We're looking for someone who is eager to learn new skills and technologies, embraces challenges beyond their primary area of expertise, and thrives in a collaborative environment. What You Will Bring To the Role

Technical Experience

  • 2+ years of professional experience with Java, Node.js and/or Kotlin.


  • Experience building and operating highly available data-integration services and message queues.


  • Experience developing secure REST services, web-sockets, and client applications.


  • 2+ years of experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.


  • Familiarity with front-end technologies including React, Webpack, and OpenAPI.


  • Familiarity with public cloud technologies and platforms including AWS and Azure.


  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment concepts and practices.
