Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Learner Engagement and with the guidance of the Digital Marketing Team Lead, the incumbent is responsible for providing leadership in the systems administration, systems implementation, systems development and technical support services for the College's enterprise content management system.

The incumbent plays a business analysis, technical advisor, planning and operational role in customizing, developing and administering the content management system, WordPress and related components with the express purpose of delivering on the goals and objectives of the College. Always taking a client-centric approach, the incumbent places strong emphasis on usability and ensures all solutions provide an optimal experience for both external clients (students, partners) and internal clients (employees).

The incumbent is responsible for working with internal clients to gather requirements and implement configuration and code changes, including the definition of workflow and approval processes and custom object implementation. In addition, the incumbent will document system configuration and administrative processes. Furthermore, the incumbent will take a proactive approach to maintaining and optimizing the platform, providing technical advice, orientation, training, guidance and direction to administrative and support clients, end users, as well as delegated WordPress content publishers.

Leveraging strong client service, business analysis, planning, research and technical skills, the incumbent will conduct research and develop training manuals and best practices which will serve as the benchmarks in the administration of the College's WordPress instance.

The incumbent will keep abreast of WordPress releases and features and make recommendations to the Marketing and Recruitment management team regarding implementation as required.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a two (2) year diploma in Information Technology, Multimedia Development, Web Development, Computer Science or a related field. Equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience may be accepted in place of formal education.

Five (5) years' experience in the development and support of interactive content management system platforms, including experience in the following:
  • Proficiency on CMS (WordPress) development, programming with Hypertext Pre-processor (PHP), JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5/XHTML, CSS/SASS, and various types of multimedia.
  • Full-stack development;
  • Experience developing responsive websites;
  • Experience developing on e-commerce platforms/CMS or customizing e-commerce functionality;
  • Experience and understanding of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), World-Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Web Accessibility Guidelines (WAG) AA, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) standards;
  • Experience with Salesforce integrations is considered an asset;
  • Experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL or Oracle and a good working knowledge of SQL;
  • Familiarity with web transport protocols including but not limited to AJAX, Web-hooks, OAUTH2, JSON, SOAP and REST methods;
  • Experience with development of data migration and integration;
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and other similar analytics and integrations tools;
  • Re-engineering experience on updating an existing functionality to provide solutions for enhanced functionality;
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementation of system upgrades and customizations;
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas to business users and other teams (design, QA);
  • Knowledge of SEO coding best practices;
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to fix bugs;
  • Self-motivated with intense attention to detail;
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
  • Experience working and collaborating in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with stakeholders to gather and refine requirements based on technical needs.
