Full Job Description
Every stream, every recommendation, every account decision a member makes starts with a quiet question underneath it: who is this, and what do they need? This is the responsibility of Identity Engineering, managing some of the most foundational infrastructure at Netflix. It sits beneath every profile, every setting, and every account interaction our members have. Empowering our members to manage these features is the Account Consumer Experiences (ACE) team; Account Settings, Profile Preferences, and the introduction of these features for brand-new members. ACE sits within Account Entities & Lifecycle (AEL), responsible for the core entities, relationships, and account experiences. About the role • Build and evolve the Account Settings experience — privacy and notification settings, profile preferences, viewing history, parental controls, managed download devices, and more, surface millions of members touch every day. • Own pieces of New Member Welcoming (onboarding): profile creation, account identifiers, streaming interests, and language preference; flows that shape a member's very first experience with Netflix. • Contribute across the stack, from client experiences through the backend services that power them leaning toward frontend or backend depending on team needs. Stack is TypeScript/React on the client and Java-based GraphQL services on the backend. • Partner with the 8+ stakeholder teams that build on Account Settings and Onboarding under ACE's Hub-and-Spoke model — helping set the shared design system and technical rails while giving partner teams room to ship their own features. • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Data Science to ship experiments and features that improve how members manage their account and get started on Netflix. • Write well-tested, maintainable code, and participate in technical discussions on system design, reliability, and the long-term health of a shared, high-traffic surface. What sets you apart? You might be a great fit if you: • Have 3–6+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems, ideally spanning both frontend and backend. • Are comfortable owning a feature end-to-end, from UI through the APIs and services behind it. • You are strong in JavaScript/TypeScript/React and Java. Bonus knowledge GraphQL graph design, Android/Kotlin and iOS/Swift • Have experience integrating frontend applications with backend APIs such as GraphQL or REST. • Exercise good judgment on a high-trust, high-traffic surface — Account Settings touches nearly every Netflix member. • Communicate clearly, take ownership, and collaborate well across Product, Design, and Engineering. • Embody Netflix's values: judgment, candor, selflessness, curiosity, inclusion, creativity, courage, and resilience. What's different about us? • You'll work on one of the most-used, most-trusted surfaces at Netflix: where members manage who they are on the service, and the flows that welcome brand-new members for the first time. • Identity work is quiet but foundational — it underpins personalization today and is becoming central to where Netflix is headed next, across ads, games, and commerce. • ACE runs Account Settings as a hub for 8+ partner teams, so you'll get exposure to platform thinking and governance, not just feature delivery. • We're a small, high-context team inside a growing identity organization — high visibility, direct access to leadership, and real influence over how the team's practices take shape. Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $250,000.00 - $413,000.00. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off. Full-time salaried employees are immediately entitled to flexible time off. See more details about our Benefits here.
