Position Summary

The School of Social Work at UB seeks a candidate to fill our position for a Full Professor/ Senior Scholar.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Procuring external funding from foundation, state and/ or federal agencies.
  2. Conducting research and writing reports for funding agencies.
  3. Publishing research in various outlets including peer-reviewed journals and scholarly books, delivering presentations at top-tier conferences, and networking with others in the field.
  4. Traveling to other universities or academic settings to participate in learning opportunities.
  5. Participating in committee, departmental, and faculty meetings.
  6. Providing mentoring assistance to tenure-earning faculty and teaching assistants.
  7. Reviewing teaching materials and making recommendations for improvement.
  8. Assisting with student recruitment, interviews, and academic counseling sessions.
  9. Contributing to the creation of an environment that promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  10. Designing and delivering quality courses that synthesize and communicate knowledge and skills effectively to diverse students.
  11. Participating in professional service and leadership at local, state, regional, national, and/or global levels.


Minimum Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate in social work or related field.
  • Experience procuring large foundation, state, federal, and other grants.
  • Proven track record of publishing in high-impact journals.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience mentoring other researchers in procuring research funding.
  • Experience teaching at the graduate and doctoral levels.
