Fuel Project Engineer
Washington, DC Metro Area | $125k - $155k

Up to 50% Domestic & International Travel

Take Nuclear Fuel Projects from Engineering Through Commissioning

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants broader responsibility than a traditional process engineering role. You'll combine nuclear fuel process engineering with owner-side EPCM and construction oversight, working across design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness.

Reporting to the Director of Fuel Facilities Operations, you'll serve as a key technical representative with direct exposure to EPCM partners, contractors, vendors, field teams, operations, quality, and leadership.

What You'll Do
  • Lead process engineering activities supporting nuclear fuel processing, production, and operational improvement.
  • Provide day-to-day owner oversight of EPCM, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Serve as a technical interface with EPCM contractors, construction partners, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Monitor contractor performance against scope, schedule, budget, technical requirements, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct field inspections and facility walkdowns and troubleshoot engineering, process, and construction issues.
  • Evaluate design and contractor changes for technical, cost, schedule, safety, licensing, quality, and operational impacts.
  • Participate in design and construction readiness reviews, system walkdowns, commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness.
  • Identify project risks and contractor performance concerns and drive issues toward resolution.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership on process improvements and project execution.

What You'll Bring

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of process engineering experience, preferably within fuel, refining, energy, or a related industrial environment.
  • Experience with construction management, inspections, process optimization, and operational improvement.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety, environmental, and quality systems.
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

Preferred
  • Nuclear fuel handling, fuel production, or related process-system experience.
  • EPCM, construction oversight, commissioning, or engineering leadership experience.
  • PE license or progress toward licensure.
  • Spanish-language proficiency.

Compensation & Benefits

$125K-$155K base salary
  • Hybrid work environment.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance with company contributions.
  • 401(k) match up to 5%.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • Company holidays and paid parental leave.
  • Opportunities for continued professional growth.

If you're an engineer who wants to move beyond a narrowly defined technical role and gain greater ownership across nuclear fuel engineering, construction, and project execution, we encourage you to explore this opportunity.
