DescriptionPosition Summary The Pace University- Lenox Hill Hospital Physician Assistant Program- NYC is seeking a full-time non- tenure track principal faculty member (Clinical Assistant/ Clinical Associate Professor) to join the team of our program on the New York City campus. The position will report to the Chair/Program Director.
Specific Responsibilities- Principal faculty member will serve as the course director for a given course within the clinical curriculum and be responsible for assisting other course directors in the development, coordination and evaluation of curricular content and student performance throughout the clinical year.
- Participate in teaching in areas of expertise including individual, lab, and team-teaching of courses.
- Facilitation of small group activities guiding application of clinical practices and developing critical thinking, diagnostic strategies, patient education and counseling.
- Actively assist in the maintenance of ARC-PA accreditation and NYS program requirements.
- Be actively involved in developing and carrying out the mission and vision of the department, college and university.
- Assist in the program improvement including curricular implementation and the admissions process including applicant selection and recruitment.
- Responsible for academic counseling to students in both the didactic and clinical years.
- Evaluate student performance and ensure the availability of remedial instruction.
- Assist in reviewing the mission statement, program goals and program competencies review/revisions.
- Evaluate the program by participating in the program's ongoing self-assessment, analysis, and accreditation processes.
- Actively involved in clinical site development.
- Responsible for clinical site monitoring.
- Engage in service to the program, college, university and community.
- Participate in national, state, and/or leadership activities relevant to physician assistant education and practice.
RequirementsPosition Qualifications Required Experience and Qualifications: •
- Graduation from an accredited PA program.
- Master's Degree.
- Current NCCPA certification.
- NYS PA Licensure or eligible.
- Minimum three years clinical experience as a practicing physician assistant.
- Teaching experience in PA education strongly preferred (cumulative time spent as adjunct faculty, part-time teaching faculty, and/or lecturing/precepting for a PA program will be considered).
- Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty and preceptors.
